“Jesus went out from there and came into His hometown; and His disciples followed Him. When the Sabbath came, He began to teach in the synagogue; and the many listeners were astonished, saying, “Where did this man get these things, and what is this wisdom given to Him, and such miracles as these performed by His hands?” (Mark 6:1-2)
The closer one is to a group of folks, the more there seems to be an attitude of criticism. “You cannot do that.” The Lord grants what He grants, and what seems to us to be ordinary people do extraordinary things. Where did Jesus get these things? He is the One through whom they came to be. God becoming flesh. This has always been hard for humans to fathom because of pride. God can do anything.
Lord, help me see that all things are possible with You. You, who created the heavens, can show up as an ordinary person. You have shown up before me. Lead me away from the foolish doubts and questions to understand that in You I have hope and a future. Guide me to live into the life of faith which You have granted me knowing that You, who created all things, are more than able to accomplish all that You have spoken.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You have come into the world to complete in all who believe what the Father has purposed. Lead me according to the goodness of Your grace and mercy to live into the life which You have placed before me. Aid me to better understand You and not react with prideful indignation at what You are doing. If You tell me to say to a mountain, “Be moved,” it will be moved. Help me understand that all things are possible through You. Amen.
