“For all the gods of the peoples are idols, But the Lord made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before Him, strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.” (Psalm 96:5-6)

Idols are those made-up things that get in the way of the truth that You alone are above all things. Lead me, O Lord, in the goodness of Your presence that I would now and always live according to Your Word and Your way. All splendor and majesty are Yours, O Lord, for everything You created reflects the truth of Your presence, purpose and will. Help me now and always to walk according to Your ways that I would live in the truth.

True God who is above all things, You have made Yourself known to the ages through Your Word and the Word made flesh. Lift me above the cacophony of noise that is in this age that I may see more clearly the truth that You alone are God. Keep me from the idols of this age to worship and praise You alone and above all things. You are God and greatly to be praised.

Lord Jesus, You have taught us to worship the LORD with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength. Lead me in the way I should go in this age that I would live in the truth of creation with all of my being. Help me now and always to see in You the truth of reality and the eternal way of things. Guide me, O Lord, by Your grace to live this day and everyday in the truth of Your salvation. Amen.

Devotion for Friday, September 14, 2018

“The Lord reigns, He is clothed with majesty; the Lord has clothed and girded Himself with strength; indeed, the world is firmly established, it will not be moved. Your throne is established from of old; You are from everlasting.” (Psalm 93:1-2)

The Lord God created all things. They are His and we are His. Look to the One through which all things have their being and see that He has wonderfully made all things. Know the Lord and discover the purpose for which You have been made. His throne is everlasting and He will bring to fruition all that He has planned. In Him alone is the hope of eternity. He is our strength.

Lord, teach me the things I need to know that I may come to the place where I see more clearly the truth of creation. Guide me according to Your goodness that I may walk in the paths You have established. You are God and King and there is nothing nor no one that can take Your place. Bring my heart to the place where I live this reality knowing that in You is life and liberty.

Thank You, Lord, for paving the way that all who believe and live according to Your promises will know life everlasting. Lead me this day to walk according to Your Word, knowing that in You and by Your leading I will come to the place You have planned for me. You are my Savior and my God. May I now and always bow to Your goodness and live in Your presence. Amen.

Devotion for Wednesday, August 29, 2018

“Make us glad according to the days You have afflicted us, and the years we have seen evil. Let Your work appear to Your servants and Your majesty to their children. Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us; and confirm for us the work of our hands; yes, confirm the work of our hands.” (Psalm 90:15-17)

The Lord is at work and as we look to the Lord, we can see that what He is promising is that all that we experience in this world that abides in wickedness will be seen for what it is. We shall know the purpose of our affliction and see clearly the goodness of the Lord. Come then and walk humbly before the One who has plans for you and will lead you all the days of your life.

Lord, I am sometimes overwhelmed with the circumstances of life. Help me, I pray, to see more clearly through the fog of this age. Guide me by the principles You have laid down from the beginning. May my life confirm the work of Your hands that I may remain faithful to You, the One who has done all these good things. Let Your favor rest upon Your humble servant.

Lord Jesus, You have provided the example of a faithful servant. You lived amongst us and provided the grace we need to navigate this world and its perils. Help me this day to see more clearly the way I need to go. Guide my thoughts to be thinking upon the goodness of the Father. Help me make wise and good choices in all that I do that my life may be a thank-offering to You. Amen.
