Devotion for Tuesday, April 16, 2019

“May Your lovingkindnesses also come to me, O Lord, Your salvation
according to Your word; so I will have an answer for him who reproaches me, for
I trust in Your word. And do not take the word of truth utterly out of my
mouth, for I wait for Your ordinances.” (Psalm 119:41-43)

The offer of the Lord includes
gaining wisdom and understanding. You can learn how to speak to your
adversaries when they come against you. Such offer is built upon walking in the
Lord’s way and learning His statutes. It does not come instantly, nor is it
given from on high in some mystical experience. It comes through diligence,
study and repetition; and it is done in relationship with the Lord.

Lord, teach me to walk with You that I would grow in understanding and
wisdom. Help me to see through the lies and fabrications of this world to come
to the place where I abide in You and You in me. Guide me through Your word to
learn what You have already given. Teach me to be able to give an account of
the hope that is within me. Lead me, O Lord, in the way of wisdom.

Lord Jesus, You have come to show
the way for all who would come through You to the Father. Guide me this day to
open my eyes to see the truth and understand more fully the way of salvation. May
I live walking alongside You and with Your gift of the Holy Spirit leading me
from within. Guide me, Lord, in the way You know I need to go that I may walk
with You daily. Amen.

Devotion for Monday, April 15, 2019

“Turn away my reproach which I dread, for Your ordinances are good. Behold,
I long for Your precepts; revive me through Your righteousness.” (Psalm
119:39-40)

In our heart and soul, we know
right from wrong. Either we increase the desire for all that is wrong, or else
we walk the narrow path that seeks to learn to live righteously always. Long
for the goodness of the Lord and seek His way while it may be found. Life comes
from the Lord. Walk in the way of life. Walk in the way of the Lord. Seek His
righteousness and all else that is needed will be added.

Lord, You know all of the things that get in the way of my walking humbly with You. Lead me, O Lord, in the way of truth that I may pursue righteousness all the days of my life. Let not the cares of this world overcome me, but lift me up by Your grace that I may now and always walk in the way of truth. You alone know all that is needed. Keep me on the humble path of being Your servant.

Lord Jesus, You are the model of
the godly life. Help me to walk with You and follow Your lead. Where I am
wrong, correct me. Where I am weak, strengthen me. Where I am unable, lift me
up to do what You give me to do. In all things, help me learn to praise you in
all circumstances. You are the author and finisher of my faith. Write another
chapter in me this day, I pray. Amen.

Devotion for Sunday, April 14, 2019

“Incline my heart to Your testimonies and not to dishonest gain. Turn
away my eyes from looking at vanity, and revive me in Your ways. Establish Your
word to Your servant, as that which produces reverence for You.” (Psalm
119:36-38)

Lord, You know that the living
of life takes time. Not just those things humans often think of as dishonest
gain, but also matters of the heart. Keep me on the right path, taking as long
as You know it needs to take, that I would now and forever walk in Your
statutes. Guide me, O Lord, in the way of truth that I may walk in Your ways. You
have promised to establish Your word in me.

Lord, You know the places where I struggle. You know where there is
need. Guide me, O Lord, in the way of truth that I may abide in You. Help me
through all the obstacles that are in the way that I may now and always live
according to Your word. Do not let me stray from Your promises, but walk now
and forever in the truth You have established from the beginning.

Lord Jesus, You have spoken and
told us that You are the way, truth and life. Lead me, O Lord, in the way You
have established and keep me from seeking any shortcuts. (There are no
shortcuts and You know all that is needed.) Guide me, O Lord, according to the
Father’s will to walk now and forever in the way of righteousness. Grow in me a
willing faith that always seeks You and Your righteousness. Amen.

Devotion for Saturday, April 13, 2019

“Teach me, O Lord, the way of Your statutes, and I shall observe it to
the end. Give me understanding, that I may observe Your law and keep it with
all my heart. Make me walk in the path of Your commandments, for I delight in
it.” (Psalm 119:33-35)

Understanding is not some potion
you drink but the hard work of hearing, reading, meditating, praying and
learning to live the instructions of the Lord. To seek understanding is to be
willing to do the work to gain it. Ask the Lord and He will give you
understanding. Walk in His ways and He will teach you His statutes. Come to
know the Lord and He will give you knowledge.

Lord, daily I become busy with the things of life. Help me, I pray, to
not be hindered in the most important relationship of eternity. Guide me in the
way I should go that I may never veer from the path that You have set before
me. Lead me, O Lord, in the way of truth that I would now and always walk
humbly in the way of righteousness which You have established for all people.

Lord Jesus, You have commanded
that we learn to obey all that You have commanded. Lead me in the way of
learning Your statues that I would forever walk more closely with You and the
way of everlasting life. Guide me this day that I may gain understanding. Grant
that I would listen as You speak and respond as You direct that this day I may
become a little more like You. Create in me an understanding heart, O Lord. Amen.

Devotion for Friday, April 12, 2019

“I cling to Your testimonies; O Lord, do not put me to shame! I shall
run the way of Your commandments, for You will enlarge my heart.” (Psalm
119:31-32)

To what do you cling? Many will
say one thing, but the truth is that the real thing to which they hold onto is
something else. Only the Lord is forever. All other things are fleeting. Be led
in the way of the Lord, for His mercy endures forever. Come to the Lord while
He may be found and walk in all of His ways. The Lord will lead you out of the
valley of death and into life.

Lord, this world is a deep valley and filled with travails. Shine Your
light for my footsteps that I would not be hindered in walking the way of
righteousness. Do not let me be put to shame by the wicked, but follow You no
matter what happens around me. Create in me a new heart and enlarge it that I
may learn mercy and compassion from You to share with others as You have shared
with me.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for walking
as we walk. You know all that comes at us day by day. Lead me, O Lord, in the
way of grace that I would learn each day as Your disciple to become more like
You. Remind me that a growing heart needs each day to grow. Help me to be
humble in this age of great anxiety. In all that I do this day, bring
encouragement that I would remain on the straight and narrow path You have set
before me. Amen.

Devotion for Thursday, April 11, 2019

“My soul weeps because of grief; strengthen me according to Your word. Remove
the false way from me, and graciously grant me Your law. I have chosen the
faithful way; I have placed Your ordinances before me.” (Psalm 119:28-30)

This world is filled with those who do not follow the way of the Lord. Sin compounds and the Lord is blamed. Do not follow in the path of destruction, but in the way of the Lord. He is good and worthy of all praise. Come to Him and know the goodness of His grace and mercy. Walk in His statutes and know that His way is right. Trust in Him, for He alone will lead you all the days of your life in the way of truth.

Lord, it becomes very foggy sometimes as I try to discern which way to
go. The people clamor, yet they remain self-absorbed. Guide me, O Lord, in the
way of righteousness that I would now and always choose to walk the faithful
way of Your statutes. Remove all that is false within me and grow in me what it
is that You have created me for. Be above, below, in front, behind around and
beside me always.

Lord Jesus, I need to be rescued.
You have come to lead through the narrow way. Guide me today and every day to
see more clearly the steps to take. Help me to live into the life to which You
have called me. Place Your ordinances in my heart and help me to do good
always. You are my Savior, but You are also my example. Lead me this day by
grace into all goodness. Amen.

Devotion for Wednesday, April 10, 2019

“My soul cleaves to the dust; revive me according to Your word. I have
told of my ways, and You have answered me; teach me Your statutes. Make me
understand the way of Your precepts, so I will meditate on Your wonders.” (Psalm
119:25-27)

Walking in this world is walking
with death all around us. This world is already condemned; but the Savior came
not to condemn the world, but that there may be life. The Lord offers
understanding to those who come to Him. He will lift up the countenance of
those who trust Him. Come to the Lord and lean not on your own understanding but
see that He is Good and merciful.

Lord, I want to cling to You but my hands are weak and I lose my grip. You
have promised to hold onto me. Never let me go for I need You to be the One who
holds on. What I desire is from weak flesh, but what You promise is from
eternity. Guide me, O Lord, in the way of truth that I would be held in Your
presence now and forever. Teach me to meditate upon Your wonders.

Lord Jesus, You have come because
You know we need You to save us. A Savior would not have come if we did not
need to be saved. Lead me, O Lord, in the way You know I need to go. Guide me
according to Your grace and mercy that I would now and always walk in the way
You have established. Help me to learn to meditate upon Your goodness and the
wonders You have created. Amen.

Devotion for Tuesday, April 9, 2019

“Even though princes sit and talk against me, Your servant meditates on
Your statutes. Your testimonies also are my delight; they are my counselors.” (Psalm
119:23-24)

Does it really matter what others say? Even though they be powerful people in this world, what can they do? Do not fear the one who can destroy the body, but the One who can destroy body and soul. Meditate upon the Word of the Lord. Learn the way of the Lord, for it is the way of life. God’s Word is a Counselor, for this is One of His names, “Mighty Counselor.”  Trust always in the Lord.

Lord, I hear these words and I know in my mind that they are true but
my heart fears. Though I say I do not fear death, I do not want pain and
misery. Take my heart from where it is to the place that no matter what happens
around me I may know that You are God and worthy of all honor and praise. Lead
me, O Lord, into the eternal truth You have spoken through Your statutes.

Lord Jesus, I need the Spirit
which You breathed upon Your disciples. I need the guidance and ability that
only You can give. Though ten thousand fall round about me, let it not be me
who falls. I speak not of the death of this body, but of the faith You have
given me by grace. Lead me ever deeper to abide in You, who is Lord of lords
and King of kings, that I may share in Your everlasting life. Amen.

Devotion for Monday, April 8, 2019

“My soul is crushed with longing after Your ordinances at all times. You
rebuke the arrogant, the cursed, who wander from Your commandments. Take away
reproach and contempt from me, for I observe Your testimonies.” (Psalm
119:20-22)

There is that certain something
within us all when we cross the line and do what is not right in the sight of
the Lord. One can crush this feeling, this something that is there to guide us,
or one can embrace the Holy Spirit and learn to listen as the Spirit speaks. Come
into the presence of the Lord and learn to obey all that has been commanded. The
Lord leads those who trust in Him.

Lord, You know the inner struggle that goes on within me. Take away
from me the rebellion that will not listen to You that I may grow in the
likeness of Christ. Guide me according to Your never-failing Word that I may
learn from You how to be merciful, kind, gracious and all of the other
attributes which are Yours which You intend to implant in the faithful. Lead me,
O Lord, according to Your purpose.

Holy Spirit, come and minister to
my heart that I would forever live the way You intend me to live. You are the
potter and I am the clay. Guide me into Your goodness that I would now and
forever live out the purpose for which You created me. Do not allow any
hindrances to bar the way of my becoming like Christ that I may fulfill Your
perfect will. Take away any reproach and contempt in my heart that I may obey
Your will. Amen.

Devotion for Sunday, April 7, 2019

“Deal bountifully with Your servant, that I may live and keep Your
word. Open my eyes, that I may behold wonderful things from Your law. I am a
stranger in the earth; do not hide Your commandments from me.” (Psalm
119:17-19)

If we live by faith, we know
that this life is short and temporary. We are in the midst of being made new in
the image of Christ. Live to keep the Word and you will become like Christ. This
is so simple to see, if even hard to do. Trust in the Lord and He will open
your eyes to see the truth of the revelation which has always been before you. We
are all pilgrims and strangers upon this earth.

Lord, open my eyes to see more clearly the path upon which You have set
me. Guide me according to Your commandments that I may abide in You as You
abide in me. You are the Creator of all things and You know what You are doing.
Keep me from trusting in myself that I would trust in You always. Lead me, O
Lord, according to Your goodness that I may learn to abide in Your promises.

Lord Jesus, You have called us to
join with You through the cross and prepare for the coming resurrection. Lead
me, O Lord, in the way You know I need to go that I would follow You step by
step through this journey of faith. Guide me to live according to the
never-changing word which has been declared that I may now and forever live
into the promise of salvation which You have made possible. Amen.
