Devotion for Wednesday, October 16, 2019

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.  He counts the number of the stars; He calls
them all by name.  Great is our Lord, and
mighty in power; His understanding is infinite.”  (Psalm 147:3-5)

The Lord knows you better than
you know yourself.  He knows where you
have been and all that has happened in your life.  Turn to Him and allow Him to put the healing
of His gentle Spirit within you.  He will
guide you in all of your ways.  Lean upon
the Lord and trust that the One who created you knows all that is needed.  Come into the grace of His understanding and
be comforted.

Lord, You know all that is needed.
Guide me according to Your purposes to come into Your presence and dwell
with You forever.  Lead me in the way You
know I need to go that I may now and always abide in Your presence.  Lift me up and bring me to understanding that
I may know the fullness of the promises You have given for those who
believe.  May I now and always dwell in
Your presence.

Come, Holy Spirit, and minister
to my heart.  Lead me in the way of truth
that I may now and always listen as You speak and obey as You command.  Help me through every time of trouble to see
that in You alone is the hope for us all.
May I humbly submit to Your leading as You guide me through all that my
life has encountered and find the healing which You alone provide.  Amen.

Devotion for Tuesday, October 15, 2019

“Praise the Lord!  For it is good
to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful.  The Lord builds up Jerusalem; He gathers
together the outcasts of Israel.”  (Psalm
147:1-2)

Look around you.  There is much beauty in this world.  The Lord is good and has provided at all
times for all people.  Do not focus upon
the calamities, but upon the abundance that cares for so many.  See the goodness of what the Lord has done
and learn to praise Him for all things and in all situations.  The world focuses upon evil.  Learn to focus upon what is right and good.

Lord, teach me to have a heart that praises You in every season.  Guide me according to Your purpose to see
that in You is the hope of every generation.
Lead me to see what is right and good and to put these things into
practice.  Guide me O Lord according to
Your purpose that I may now and always praise You and give You thanks for all
the good things You provide for Your creation.

Lord Jesus, You have come that
all who believe would have life and have it abundantly.  Guide me in the way of truth that I would
rejoice in the blessings You give.  Lead
me in Your provision to see through the wiles of this world and know Your grace
and goodness afresh each day.  Help me to
live with a grateful heart, giving thanks for the abundant mercies You
provide.  Amen.

Devotion for Monday, October 14, 2019

“The Lord shall reign forever – your God, O Zion, to all
generations.  Praise the Lord!”  (Psalm 146:10)

The Lord is the Creator of all
things.  Everything that exists is in His
hands.  There are many who believe all
kinds of things about reality, but reality is in the hands of the One who made
it.  Praise the One through whom all
things have their being.  Come to the One
in Whom is purpose and meaning.  He is
the God of all generations and leads those who come to Him in purpose and
promise.

Lord, there are so many conflicting ideas that it is easy to get caught
up in the unreality offered by this age.
Guide me, O Lord, in the way of truth.
You have spoken and Your Word is true.
Guide me through the faith You have given that I may abide in the truth
of Your Word.  Lead me to see that in You
alone is the hope of every age.  Lead me
to learn to praise You for all things.

Lord Jesus, You have come to
reveal life that we may live now and forever in Your presence.  Guide me in the way of truth that You have
established that I may now and always walk according to the Word You have
given.  Lead me to live a life of praise
of You through whom all things have their being.  Guide me along with all the faithful of every
time and place to praise You.  Amen.

Devotion for Sunday, October 13, 2019

“The Lord gives freedom to the prisoners.  The Lord opens the eyes of the blind; the
Lord raises those who are bowed down; the Lord loves the righteous.  The Lord watches over the strangers; He
relieves the fatherless and widow; but the way of the wicked He turns upside
down.”  (Psalm 146:7b-9)

In this life, there are many
injustices.  Each in their own way have
been crippled by the ways of this world steeped in rebellion against the
Lord.   Yet, one by one, He lifts up
those who turn to Him and removes their infirmity.  Mind you, in the Lord, one can still remain
physically or mentally impaired and yet freed by grace.  He frees the captives though they remain in
an earthly dungeon.  Come into the
freedom of the Lord.

Lord, help me see that in Your faithfulness You do all of these things
and more.  Teach me by Your good news to
know that in You alone is the hope for all people.  Though this world be passing away, yet in You
there is eternity.  Guide me, O Lord, in
the way of everlasting life that I would walk now and forever with You by my
side.  Lead me according to Your goodness
and mercy.

Lord Jesus, You have come to lead
the way into everlasting life.  Guide me
now and always in the way of life that I would walk humbly with You as You lead
me.  Lift me up to see that in You is the
hope for every age.  May I now and always
be found following You wherever You lead knowing that You have given the words
of everlasting life.  Lead me, O Savior,
in the way of Your salvation.  Amen.

Devotion for Saturday, October 12, 2019

“Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in
the Lord his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them;
who keeps truth forever, who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food
to the hungry.”  (Psalm 146:5-7a)

Unhappy is the one who rejects
the God of Jacob.  Yes, there are many
unhappy people in the world.  Do not be
misled by the wiles of this world.  There
is a constant fight to keep people from understanding the simple truth that the
Lord provides in all seasons for all living things.  Come then to the Lord and give thanks for His
goodness and mercy.  See that in Him is
true life.

Lord, all day long I hear the diatribes of people who believe all kinds
of things.  Keep my mind and heart on You
that I may not walk along the trails that lead to unhappiness.  Guide me according to Your goodness to know
that in You alone is the hope for all ages.
Lead me into the life You have created that I may now and always give
thanks for Your manifold blessings.

Come Holy Spirit and direct my
heart in the way of genuine faith.  Lead
me according to Your goodness to walk humbly this day in the Father’s sight,
being thankful for all the provision I see around me.  Prepare me to now and always live a life of
thanksgiving and praise.  Help me to
share with others as You have shared with me.
Show me how to walk as You would have me walk today and every day.  Amen.

Devotion for Friday, October 11, 2019

“Do not put your trust in princes, nor in a son of man, in whom there
is no help.  His spirit departs, he
returns to his earth; in that very day his plans perish.”  (Psalm 146:3-4)

Sadly, too many people put their
trust in temporary things.  Set your
priority on eternal things.  The Lord is
forever and He has created all things.
Do not trust in those things created, but in the One who made all
things.  In Him alone is the hope of all
the ages.  The Lord is forever and in Him
is the only forever hope.  Walk humbly
before your Creator and trust in Him above all things.

Lord, I am led astray by those people and things around me that tempt
me.  Lead me not into temptation, but
into Your eternal arms of grace and mercy.
Help me to see that in You alone is the hope of the ages.  Guide me according to Your eternal plan and
purpose to walk as You know I need to walk that I may be guided forever by Your
Word and Your will.  Lead me away from
all that is temporary.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for coming
to lead the way for the faithful.  Guide
me now and always in the everlasting way of salvation that I may become ever more
like You.  Help me this day to see that
You have come that all who believe might have life and have it abundantly.  Guide me in the way of truth which You have
established that I may walk in the way of Your salvation.  Amen.

Devotion for Thursday, October 10, 2019

“Praise the Lord!  Praise the Lord, O my soul!  While I live I will praise the Lord; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.”  (Psalm 146:1-2)

What are you here for?  The question of the ages stands before
you.  You were created to worship and you
do so all the day long.  But what is the
direction of your worship?  Is it
yourself?  Is it someone else?  Is it the things in your life?  Come before the One who created you and worship
Him alone, for He alone is worthy of all worship and praise.  Sing praise to the Lord while you have your
being.

Lord, You know my heart and where I am.
Guide me in the way of life that I would now and always abide in You and
You in me.  Lead me in the way of worship
which fulfills the purpose for which I have been created.  Guide me in the upward path to see that in
You alone is all hope and being.  Help me
in the peace You give to be thankful and full of praise.

Lord Jesus, You have come to lead
the way in righteousness.  Lead me now
and always in the way of life that I may abide in You as You guide me into the
way of everlasting life.  May I humbly
submit to Your leading and grow in Your likeness day by day.  You have given me my being and in You is my
purpose.  Show me, O Lord, the way You
know I need to go.  Amen.

Devotion for Wednesday, October 9, 2019

“ He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He will also hear
their cry and will save them.  The Lord
keeps all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy.  My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord,
and all flesh will bless His holy name forever and ever.”  (Psalm 145:19-21)

What is the course upon which
you will set your life?  Will it be upon
your own ideas?  Come into the presence
of the Lord and walk with Him all the days of your life.  Know that He who made you knows you and all
that you need.  He will guard you against
the adversaries that would hinder your walking with Him.  The righteous He will bring to be with Him,
but the wicked He will destroy.

Lord, in the diversity of all the people of the world, each going their
own way, You have created the path that leads to righteousness.  Guide me along the right path to walk now and
forever with You.  Lead me according to
Your goodness to see that in You is the hope for all people.  Lead me to be faithful as I walk through this
age.  Lead me in the way of salvation
which You have prepared before all people.

By the power of Your Spirit and
in the way of Christ, lead me, O Lord, the way You know I need to walk.  Help me not stumble along the way, but walk
uprightly in Your presence always.  Guide
me today and every day to know that You hear all of my prayers and have set
before me the course to walk.  May I walk
humbly with You my Lord and learn from You the way in which to live. Amen.

Devotion for Tuesday, October 8, 2019

“The Lord is righteous in all His ways and kind in all His deeds.  The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to
all who call upon Him in truth.”  (Psalm
145:17-18)

Many contend with the Lord,
wanting creation to be as they imagine it ought to be.  “I want things this way.”  But the Lord, who made all things, has
established the course and is kind to all, gracious and slow to anger.  All who come to Him in truth will see things
as they are and come to know the fullness of His kindness and goodness.  Come to the One who made all things and
explore truth.

Lord, I have so many ideas and they fill my head.  Lead me in the way of truth that I may now
and always abide in truth.  Guide me
according to Your goodness and mercy to be truthful with you and others.  Let me not be caught up in the false ways of
this world, but know that You alone are God and there is no other.  Lead me, O Lord, into Your presence now and
forever.

Lord Jesus, You are the way and
truth.  You have come to reveal the life
we were created to live.  Guide me this
day to walk humbly with You and discover more about how to live.  Teach me to be humble as You are humble that
I would reflect what You have taught us and live according to the Father’s
will.  Guide me now and always in the way
of salvation which You have prepared.
Amen.

Devotion for Monday, October 7, 2019

“The eyes of all look to You, and You give them their food in due
time.  You open Your hand and satisfy the
desire of every living thing.”  (Psalm
145:15-16)

Think about all of the living
things in the world.  Most are provided
for without out thinking about it.  The
Lord has built provision into His creation.
Marvel at the intricacy.  All these
things the Lord has done.  He has
provided in all seasons and each receives what is needed in its time.  Marvel and do not be misled by those who
claim credit for what the Lord alone can and has done for what He has created.

Lord, there are many ways in which You have provided for me and I have
not even been aware.  You provide for all
of Your creation.  Guide me, O Lord, in
the ways You would have me go with awareness and thankfulness for all that You
have done.  Lead me now and always to
live a life that thanks You for the many ways in which You provide.  Let me perceive the abundance of Your
provision.

Lord Jesus, You said that in the
freedom given by grace we would have the abundant life.  Lead me to see what is before my eyes that I
would become grateful for the many things that are around me.  Remind me to see that You have and do provide
for all.  In gratitude, guide my heart to
be thankful in all things and for all things knowing that You know our needs
even before we ask.  Amen.
