Devotion for Monday, August 13, 2018

“Once I have sworn by My holiness; I will not lie to David. “His descendants shall endure forever and his throne as the sun before Me.” (Psalm 89:35-36)

The Lord swore to David. Unlike humans, the Lord keeps His promises. He will abide in the truth and delivers to us that which He has promised. Look carefully and know His word is truth. The world seeks to make the Lord a liar, but it is the world which will be found to have lied. The Lord has spoken the truth from the beginning, for He is truth. Trust in the Lord and know that His promises are sure.

Guide me O Lord through the maze of all of the things said about You that I may know the truth of Your Word. Help me to see clearly that all things have always been in Your hands. Nothing in all of creation is able to separate those who are in You from the promises You give. Lead me to live by faith all the days of my life in the hope and promises that You give.

Lord Jesus, without You it would be impossible to live in this faith You have given. By the power of Your Spirit, lead me this day to walk humbly and faithfully in the truth You have revealed. Help me now and always to hold fast to Your ways and walk before the Father as one of the godly ones. You have lifted me up and will sustain me by Your grace. Lead me to walk in thankfulness for Your goodness. Amen.

Devotion for Sunday, August 12, 2018

“But I will not break off My lovingkindness from him, nor deal falsely in My faithfulness. “My covenant I will not violate, nor will I alter the utterance of My lips.” (Psalm 89:33-34)

The Lord has promised to never break His covenant. Many go the way they will, but the Lord is always faithful. He holds out His hand of mercy for those who will take it. His grace endures and in love He offers salvation. Though your sins be as scarlett, come to the Lord, know His goodness and receive His forgiveness. Know that the Lord who is faithful will teach you to be faithful in the love He grants by grace.

Lord, when things do not go as I think they should I fear and wonder where You are. Your promises are sure and Your presence is real. It is I who is far off. It is I who is distant. Bring me close to see that You are always there. Lead me in the way I should go that I may now and always walk in Your ways and know the goodness of Your mercy. Lead me, O Lord, that I may follow.

Holy Spirit, You are always calling. Lord Jesus, You have paved the way. Father in heaven, Your goodness is ever present upon the earth. Help me to walk this day humbly in Your presence and know that in Your grace alone is the hope of all people. In You alone will the promise be fulfilled. Lead me, O LORD, that I may now and always walk in the way of faithfulness and live in Your mercy and grace. Amen.

Devotion for Saturday, August 11, 2018

“If his sons forsake My law and do not walk in My judgments, if they violate My statutes and do not keep My commandments, then I will punish their transgression with the rod and their iniquity with stripes.”  (Psalm 89:30-32)

Notice that when speaking to the ones of the promise God does not damn them, but He rebukes and punishes them.  Those who are in the promise of the Savior are saved even though they need reproof and teaching.  Be comforted that the Lord loves you enough to go to whatever length necessary to hold You fast all the days of your life.  He will never leave you nor forsake you.  Be comforted.

Many of the faithful ask what is going on.  You have spoken and we all need correction and reproof.  We do not know what You know, Lord, but You have told us that there is a time of shaking and the holy ones are being purified.  Teach me to see that I need to keep my eyes upon You that I may learn faithfulness.  No matter what happens, lead me, O Lord, to walk in Your ways.

Savior of the world, teach me and guide me.  Reprove me where I need admonishment.  You have paid the price of salvation and have granted the gift of faith.  Guide me today in the way You would have me go and help me to see the truth of what is happening around me.  Grant that I remain humble and confident in the truth You have given that I may walk with You forever.  Amen.

Devotion for Friday, August 10,2018

“My lovingkindness I will keep for him forever, and My covenant shall be confirmed to him. “So I will establish his descendants forever and his throne as the days of heaven.” (Psalm 89:28-29)

The descendants of the holy One are those who believe. As many as believe are the ones that are in His lineage. The gift of salvation has been granted to those who walk after the One who has called them from the beginning of time and walk in the ways of the Lord. This age will pass away and those who come to eternal life through the Savior will be united with Him forever.

Lord, there is more than I know or see that is going on. Grant me eyes of faith to trust that no matter what happens around me, I am in Your hands. Guide me in the call You have given that I would walk now and always in the life You have given me through faith.  Lead me by the grace I need to hold fast to the truth You have revealed that nothing would snatch me away from You.

Lord Jesus, You have sent the Holy Spirit to lead us all the days of our lives. Guide me now and always in Your way that I would walk humbly in the faith You have given me. Teach me and grow me according to the Father’s will that I would now and always live into this life to which You have called me.  May I hold steadfast to the faith and not falter that I may be with You always. Amen.

Devotion for Thursday, August 09, 2018

“He will cry to Me, ‘You are my Father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.’ “I also shall make him My firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth.” (Psalm 89:26-27)

The word of the Lord speaks the truth of Jesus. He who is the only begotten has come and leads the way as the first born among many brethren. Did He not teach us to pray, “Our Father?”  Is He not the One who has made grace and salvation possible? See how all of Scripture speaks of Jesus and the salvation He has brought into the world.  By grace through faith we see the prophecy of Jesus.

Lord, help me to see clearly that You have fulfilled what You spoke long before it came to pass. Guide my heart to receive the good news of great joy that You have come into the world to follow in the salvation You prepared before the foundation of the world. Lift me up with You to be with You now and forever that I may walk in the goodness of your provision and mercy.

Lord Jesus, You are the fulfillment of prophecy. Scripture speaks of You and the salvation You have brought that all who believe might be forever united with You, the Father and the Holy Spirit. Guide me O Lord in the way of salvation You have prepared that I may walk with You today and forever. By faith you have called me and in grace You have paved the way that I may walk with You now and forever. Amen.

Devotion for Wednesday, August 8, 2018

“My faithfulness and My lovingkindness will be with him, and in My name his horn will be exalted.  “I shall also set his hand on the sea and his right hand on the rivers.”  (Psalm 89:24-25)

The Lord promises to bless the one who walks with Him in His providence and provision.  The one who walks with the Lord learns from Him and is guided in the Holy Spirit.  He promises to be with those who come to Him forever and will never leave nor forsake them.  Come to the Lord and know the goodness of His provision and ever-watchful eye.  Know the Lord.

Lord, there are so many obstacles in this age that get in the way.  Help me, I pray, to see through all of the things that get in the way that I may humbly follow You.  Lead me heart, mind, and soul to live into the promises You give that I may forever walk in Your presence.  Guide me, O Lord, in the way I should go that I may forever walk with You.  Help me through whatever is in the way to be faithful.

Lord Jesus, You came to save, and we need salvation.  Guide me in the way of salvation that I would forever walk in Your presence and be led by what You have taught Your disciples.  Lead me this day in the way of salvation that I would humbly walk with You, my Lord and my God.  Remove far from me those things which hinder faith that I may know that You are with me.  Amen.

Devotion for Tuesday, August 7, 2018

“The enemy will not deceive him, nor the son of wickedness afflict him.  “But I shall crush his adversaries before him, and strike those who hate him.”  (Psalm 89:22-23)

Who is able to deceive the Lord?  He who is forever knows all things and He knows what is in the hearts of men.  For His own purpose and by His will, He allows what He allows, but this does not mean that He does not know.  All who rebel against the Lord will be crushed.  Those who seek the Lord will see Him.  Come to the Lord and live in the purpose of the eternal One.

Lord I am often confused by this crazy world.  Help me to see more clearly the truth that You are the One who has created all things and holds all things in Your hands.  Guide me, O Lord, in the way of truth that I may now and forever be guided by You.  Let me not be among those whom You will crush, but found amongst those whom You call faithful.  Lead me, O Lord, in the way I should go.

You have come into our midst and made Yourself known that we may follow You all the days of our life.  Come, Lord Jesus and lead me where You want me to be this day.  Come, Holy Spirit, and minister to my heart that I would serve You all the days of my life.  Lead me to be amongst the righteous.  You have called and I have heard.  Empower my feet to follow.  Amen.

Devotion for Monday, August 6, 2018

“I have found David My servant; with My holy oil I have anointed him, with whom My hand will be established; my arm also will strengthen him.”  (Psalm 89:20-21)

The Lord has appointed those whom He will use for His service.  It is as the Lord determines.  Do not fret over the appointments of the Lord, but walk humbly in His ways and be glad that He has given You His word.  Live into the hope of your salvation knowing that the Lord has accomplished it.  The Lord is merciful and kind, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

Lord, lead me through the troubles that each day brings.  Guide me according to Your goodness to see the hope of glory that You give.  You will appoint whom You will appoint to positions of leadership.  Guide me in the way You would have me go and grant that I be content in whatever circumstance You grant me to live.  You are God and there is no other.  In You alone is there hope.

My God and my Savior, guide me to walk humbly with You this day knowing that all things are in Your hands.  Help me now and always to see in You the hope of glory You have provided through the grace and mercy that You purchased by Your blood shed for me.  Lead me to do those things which are pleasing in Your sight.  May I be faithful this day, being guided in Your Holy Spirit.  Amen.

Devotion for Sunday, August 05, 2018

“For our shield belongs to the Lord, and our king to the Holy One of Israel.  Once You spoke in vision to Your godly ones, and said, “I have given help to one who is mighty; I have exalted one chosen from the people.”  (Psalm 89:18-19)

The Lord knows the times and events before they unfold.  He has given help to those who are His and grants strength to those He appoints.  Be among those whom the Lord knows and walk in His ways.  Know that Your days have been seen by the Lord and He goes before you.  Around you are the cloud of witnesses who join as those under the Lord’s guidance and protection.

Lord, help me to see that it is not a matter of my being special, but as one who has come under the provision of Your grace and mercy.  Lead me in the way You would have me go that I may now and always live according to Your will and walk in Your way.  Lift my spirit up to see in You the hope of glory and to know that You watch over all.  May I be found always as one who walks willingly in Your sight.

Lord, You have appointed the times and seasons.  You have appointed those who rule over us.  You are the One who unfolds history.  Guide me humbly to walk in Your presence and praise You who is worthy of all praise.  Lead me this day to do those things You appoint me to do knowing that all things work together for good for those who love You.  May I be dedicated to You this day and every day, my Lord and my God.  Amen.

Devotion for Saturday, August 04, 2018

“In Your name they rejoice all the day, and by Your righteousness they are exalted.  For You are the glory of their strength, and by Your favor our horn is exalted.”  (Psalm 89:16-17)

Do you call upon the name of the Lord?  Do you think of all the goodness He has lavished upon you?  The Lord has created all things and yes, the wicked roam the earth, but all are blessed because the Lord provides for all.  Lift up the name of the Lord and rejoice in His goodness and mercy.  Show others your thankfulness by serving them as the Lord has served you.  In Him is all goodness.

Lord, continue to strengthen my heart to rejoice in the goodness of Your mercy and grace.  Guide me in the way I should go and let Your presence in my life be evident.  Help me in every time of need to see Your purpose for my life and to live into that purpose.  Now and always, may there be praise of You upon my lips.  May I do what is pleasing in Your sight to accomplish Your will for me.

Lord, I need the guidance of Your Spirit to lead me throughout this day.  It is a mixed up world and things happen that cause me to be distracted.  Lead me, O Lord, in the way I should live this day that I would do what is pleasing in Your sight.  Help me now and always to be guided by Your grace and mercy and to do those things which are right in Your sight now and always.  Amen.
