Devotion for Sunday, February 10, 2019

“Let his posterity be cut off; in a following generation let their name
be blotted out. Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the Lord,
and do not let the sin of his mother be blotted out. Let them be before the
Lord continually, that He may cut off their memory from the earth; because he did
not remember to show lovingkindness, but persecuted the afflicted and needy
man, and the despondent in heart, to put them to death.” (Psalm 109:13-16)

Is this not the Lord’s creation?
Can the Lord not do with His own what He will? The modern man chafes at the
idea that the Lord puts any to death, while in history there are none more
violent than the modern man. We may not do to the flesh what they once did, but
in our minds we are even more violent. Submit to the Lord and be cleansed of
wickedness that you may abide with Him forever.

Lord, I am double-minded. Guide me away from the wickedness that is deeply embedded in me that I may learn to walk in Your ways. Help me, O Lord, to see in You the only hope of Glory that I may abide in You as You abide in me. Teach me Your ways that I may humbly walk in them and not presume to judge You, but know always that You alone are worthy to judge. Do not cut me off from Your salvation.

Lord Jesus, You are the sure hope
for all who see the truth that this age is filled with wickedness. One day it
will all pass away and there will be a new heaven and a new earth. Lead me to
learn the Father’s will from Your example without judging what You ask me to
do. Guide me in the way of life that I may be lifted up from the madness of
this world. In all things teach me to do what brings the Father glory. Amen.

Devotion for Saturday, February 9, 2019

“Let his children wander about and beg; and let them seek sustenance
far from their ruined homes. Let the creditor seize all that he has, and let
strangers plunder the product of his labor. Let there be none to extend
lovingkindness to him, nor any to be gracious to his fatherless children.” (Psalm
109:10-13)

The wicked bring their house to
ruin. When one seeks for his own interests, he eventually comes to nothing. History
is filled with those who have traveled this path of destruction. Take heed and
do not be like one of the wicked. Come into the Lord’s presence and abide in
His will and His ways all the days of Your life that it may go well with You
and those around you.

Lord, I often forget that what I do does impact those around me. Lead me, O Lord, in the way of salvation that I may learn to abide in Your presence always. Lead me now and forever to walk in the way of Your commandments and seek the better things of life. Teach me to do good to those around me that I may not experience the destruction that comes upon those who practice wickedness.

Lord Jesus, without Your grace my end would be damnation. Let me never forget that I am absolutely dependent upon You for both this life and life eternal. Guide me in the narrow way of salvation that You have prepared for all who believe. Lead me in the upward path that this day I may grow a little more in Your likeness. Let the faith You have given me be known to those around me. Amen.

Devotion for Friday, February 8, 2019

“When he is judged, let him come forth guilty, and let his prayer
become sin. Let his days be few; let another take his office. Let his children
be fatherless and his wife a widow.” (Psalm 109:7-9)

Those who do evil will come to
an evil end. We each have experienced those who have done us wrong in this life
and it is natural to want revenge. Justice belongs to the Lord, for He alone
knows all things. Come to Him in prayer and know that He hears you. The wicked
will not escape the Lord’s wrath. Come then in faith and trust the Lord for all
things.

Lord, it is a struggle, for there are those who have grieved me. Yet
Lord, I know there are those whom I have grieved. Bring me beyond the sinful
inclinations of immaturity to realize that all things must be in Your hands. You
alone are able to deal with the wicked. You alone know those who are Yours now
and the journey they must go through to finally be Yours.

Lord Jesus, ultimately all sin is
against You and on You have all sins been placed. Bring me to You that through
You I would know true grace and offer that grace to others. Lead me in the way
of everlasting life that I may abide in You and You in me knowing that in and
by Your grace alone will I find salvation. Lead me this day, O Lord, especially
through any trials that may come, to trust in You alone. Amen.

Devotion for Thursday, February 7, 2019

“In return for my love they act as my accusers; but I am in prayer. Thus
they have repaid me evil for good and hatred for my love. Appoint a wicked man
over him, and let an accuser stand at his right hand.” (Psalm 107:4-6)

Be wary of those of this world
who stand against the ways of the Lord. They are all around and will bring you
down with them. They mix love with hatred and good with evil. Become one who
stays in prayer that you may be in communion with the Lord always. Has not
Jesus taught us to pray unceasingly? Pray then and be girded for the battle
that is this world’s agenda against the faithful.

Lord, You know this world. You know what has happened since we have entered into the age of good and evil. It is all mixed up. Create in me a new and clean heart that sees the good and rejects the evil. Guide me into the truth of Your Word that I may abide in You and You in me. Lead me in the way of Your eternal truth which You have spoken from the beginning.

Word made flesh, You have come to lead the way for all who would, through You, walk in the way truth and life that You give. Guide me this day to see more clearly what is good, right and salutary and to stand there unmoved knowing that You alone are able to save me from this world’s confusion. Teach me to abide in You and to pray without ceasing. Lift up my countenance to be like Yours, always looking to the Father. Amen.

Devotion for Wednesday, February 6, 2019

“O God of my praise, do not be silent! For they have opened the wicked
and deceitful mouth against me; they have spoken against me with a lying
tongue. They have also surrounded me with words of hatred, and fought against
me without cause.” (Psalm 109:1-3)

The world is filled with anger
and hatred. The world speaks lying words. No sooner are you speaking when you
are cut off with absurdities. This is the confusion of the wicked. They speak
with lying tongues and do not want to hear the Word of the Lord. They will
fight against the Lord with vitriol, but remain silent in the face of others
who do wickedness. Hold fast to the Word of the Lord.

Lord, in my mind I am tossed about and thrown to and fro in the midst
of adversity. Help me to not become carried away in adversity. Guide me into
the truth of Your Word that I may humbly abide in Your presence and learn to
practice what is right and true. Lead me, O Lord, into the salvation You have
prepared for all who believe that I may learn to hold fast to You.

Lord Jesus, Word made flesh,
guide me ever deeper into the mystery of faith. Amidst the tossing waves of
this world, teach me to walk with You that I may stay atop the waves and not be
drowned by them. Grant to me a discerning ear and a shrewd mind that I would
not be taken in by the constant lying and deceit of this world. Help me to live
into the life You have demonstrated that I may become like You. Amen.

Devotion for Tuesday, February 5, 2019

“Who will bring me into the besieged city? Who will lead me to Edom? Have
not You Yourself, O God, rejected us? And will You not go forth with our
armies, O God? Oh give us help against the adversary, for deliverance by man is
in vain. Through God we will do valiantly, and it is He who shall tread down
our adversaries.” (Psalm 108:10-13)

The times come when we feel that
the Lord is nowhere to be found. Circumstances overwhelm us and we do not see
the hand of the Lord. Come out of this fog of thinking and know that all
history is in the hands of the Lord. He knows the end from the beginning. He
who formed You knows all things and in His redemption you will have life
everlasting. Do not look to the world, but unto the Lord.

Lord, clear my mind to live into the simple truth that You are God and
nothing can take Your place. Help me to understand more clearly the truth of Your
power and purpose that I may walk now and always in Your presence. Lift up my
heart that, no matter the circumstance in which I find myself, I may rejoice in
Your perfect will being accomplished through all that happens around me.

Lord Jesus, You have come to save
us and it is saving that we need. Lead me, O Lord, in the way of truth that I
may now and always live into the salvation You have prepared for those who
believe. Lift up my countenance that I may walk humbly with You my Savior
through all that this world will bring. Guide me in the goodness of Your grace
and mercy that I may abide in You as You abide in me. Amen.

Devotion for Monday, February 4, 2019

ʻGod has spoken in His holiness: “I will exult, I will portion out Shechem and measure out the valley of Succoth. “Gilead is Mine, Manasseh is Mine; Ephraim also is the helmet of My head; Judah is My scepter. “Moab is My washbowl; over Edom I shall throw My shoe; over Philistia I will shout aloud.”ʼ (Psalm 108:7-9)

What belongs to God? He created
everything and it all belongs to Him. Yes, He gifts you with your portion, but
that is only for a time; it will pass to another when your time here is done. Do
not be carried away with the illusions of this age, but see through them that
the Lord God is Sovereign over all. It is He who has called you to Himself and
He will lead you all the days of your life.

Lord, with my mind I know these things, but my heart seeks after the
things of the world. Guide me, O Lord, to walk humbly with You knowing that all
things do belong to You. Lead me in the way of righteousness that I may know
Your goodness above all things. Help me, O Lord, to see that it is You for whom
all things have been made and that all things are in Your hands now and
forever.

Come Holy Spirit and clear my
mind. Lead me in the way of righteousness that I may now and always walk in the
way established from the beginning. Lead me to be set apart from this world
that I may walk humbly by Your guidance all the days of my life.  I belong to You and grace has redeemed me for
Your purpose. May I be thankful and learn to praise every circumstance. Amen.

Devotion for Sunday, February 3, 2019

For Your lovingkindness is great above the heavens, and Your truth
reaches to the skies. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, and Your glory
above all the earth. That Your beloved may be delivered, save with Your right
hand, and answer me!” (Psalm 108:4-6)

Lord, this age does not believe
this, but whatever they believe does not change the truth. You are the truth
and all things were created through You. Through the maze of this world guide
me into Your Word that I may see more clearly each day that You are the
Sovereign One and that all things are in Your hands. Lift up my heart and mind
to stand firm in the truth of Your Word.

Lord I need Your help and salvation, for I am often confused by this
world’s constant tirade against You and against Scripture. Help me to come into
Your presence and dwell with You all the days of my life. Teach me the simple
truths You have revealed through Your Word that I would forever hold fast to
the truth for all ages. Guide me deeper into this salvation You have given.

Lord Jesus, You glorified the
Father by doing His will perfectly. Teach me to walk in Your footsteps that I
would bring glory to the Father. You hold all power and authority and the
universe came into existence through You. Help me to lean on You for the
understanding You give that I may boldly walk in wisdom by Your example and
live the life of salvation You grant through grace. Amen.

Devotion for Saturday, February 2, 2019

My heart is steadfast, O God; I will sing, I will sing praises, even
with my soul. Awake, harp and lyre; I will awaken the dawn! I will give thanks
to You, O Lord, among the peoples, and I will sing praises to You among the
nations.” (Psalm 108:1-3)

Have you heard and have you
seen? Look at what the Lord has made and if you receive the truth, you will
rejoice and sing of His goodness. Come into the Lord’s presence and know that
He is good above all. Let your mind be filled with the truth of the Lord and
your heart be filled with the Lord’s presence. Know that it is He who has done
this and He is good and will bless you.

Lord, the world distracts and tries to keep me from seeing and knowing
Your presence. Lift the veil that I may rejoice in Your purpose and presence
always. Guide me deeper into the faith You have given me that I may grow in the
likeness of Christ and be the child You have created me to be. Teach me to sing
with my heart that I may rejoice in Your goodness always and live according to
Your will.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for making
such a way of life possible. Teach me today to walk through the noise of this
world in order to live according to Your goodness. Guide me moment by moment to
see the truth of the ages as I live this day. Help me to rejoice now and
forever in the goodness of Your way of life. May I find myself this day in You,
walking according to the will of the Father. Amen.

Devotion for Friday, February 1, 2019

“But He sets the needy securely on high away from affliction, and makes
his families like a flock. The upright see it and are glad; but all
unrighteousness shuts its mouth. Who is wise? Let him give heed to these
things, and consider the lovingkindnesses of the Lord.” (Psalm 107:41-43)

Do you look to see things as the
Lord made them and then look at how the world fights against the order of the
Lord? The Lord wants us to gather together and encourage each other. The world
wants us to be our own free agents. Which will work? The way of the world is
destruction, but the way of the Lord is forever. Consider the Lord’s goodness
and walk in His ways.

Lord, I often am carried away by this world’s thinking. I think myself
not able to see things the way You describe them. Shatter that illusion and
help me to simply see the truth that You are the One who has established all
things. Lead me into Your order of things that I may walk humbly in Your sight
and live according to Your will. Guide me in the upward path of salvation.

Lord Jesus, by the power of the Holy Spirit You are able to lead me through the quagmire of this world’s thinking. Help me to see the better portion and walk humbly in the way of salvation that You have established. Lift up my eyes to see more clearly each day the way You would have me go that I may abide in You at all times. You are my rock and my stronghold. Help me to hold on for dear life. Amen.
