Devotion for Monday, August 19, 2019

“Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
If I ascend into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in hell,
behold, You are there.  If I take the
wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,” (Psalm
138:7-9)

Remove the limits from your
thinking.  There is no place where the
Lord is not.  There is nothing the Lord
does not already know.  Sin and
punishment: He already knows the outcome of everyone’s action.  Salvation and redemption: He already knows
the actions of all who will ever live.
The Lord knows all things and has created all things.  Wherever you go, there He is.

Lord, teach my feet to stop running away that I may learn to walk with
You.  Teach me to stop looking for
answers that do not exist so that I may look to You and receive the revelation
of what is true.  Guide me, O Lord, in
the way of everlasting and eternal truth.
Guide me ever deeper into Your will and purpose.  Lead me according to Your steadfast love that
I may now and always abide in You.

Lord Jesus, You have come that
all who turn to You would follow You into everlasting life.  Lead me in the way of Your truth.  Guide me according to Your purposes that I
may now and always abide in Your goodness.
Help me to see in You the hope of glory and the truth of Your presence.  You who knows all things, keep me in Your
shadow so that I may walk in the true light.
Amen.

Devotion for Sunday, August 18, 2019

“For there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, O Lord, You know it
altogether.  You have hedged me behind
and before, and laid Your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain
it.”  (Psalm 138:4-6)

Have you ever spent time
contemplating the depth and breadth of the Lord?  True, we cannot begin to understand, but let
His Word sink in and marvel that the God of all creation created you with
purpose and a call.  He knows you by
name.  It is the LORD who has marked you
as His in baptism.  It is the Lord, who
knows all things, that is calling you even now to come into His presence and
dwell with Him forever.

Lord, Guide my eyes to see and my heart to hear the truth You have always been speaking.  Lead me in the way of everlasting life.  Guide me into the life which You have created.  Teach me according to Your purposes to be humble, for You who know all things have done great things in the sight of all people.  You have accomplished all things for Your purpose and glory.

Lord Jesus, God in the flesh, You
have come that those who believe might have life everlasting.  Guide me in the way You already know I need
to go.  Keep me from those things which
would cause me to resist or reject Your guidance.  Give me an obedient heart.  Lead me, O Savior, in the good way of faith,
for You know all that is before me.  Keep
my eyes upon You always.  Amen.

Devotion for Saturday, August 17, 2019

“O Lord, You have searched me and known me.  You know my sitting down and my rising up;
You understand my thought afar off.  You
comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my
ways.”  (Psalm 139:1-3)

What is it the Lord does not
know?  What is it the Lord is not able to
comprehend?  We look out and ponder.  God sees and knows.  We call Him Almighty and this name is
inadequate to explain Him.  The One who
knows all things has called you into His presence and desires that You walk
with Him.  Come then and know better the
Lord who made you.  Come and dwell
eternally in His presence.

Lord, You know what I am thinking.
You know what I am going to say before I say it.  Lord, please guide me that I may know as You
know: not all mysteries, but that which You will show me.  Lead me in the way that is true.  Keep me on the narrow path that I may now and
always be guided by Your goodness and mercy.
Keep me close to You that I may dwell with You forever.

Jesus, You have come to show the
way for those who will follow.  Guide me
today, O Lord, for I need Your help.
Guide me because I will get lost on my own.  Do not let me falter because of the mote in
my own eye, but trust that You who sees shows the way to go.  You have called and I have heard.  Lead me in the way of eternal life.  Teach me Your ways and I will follow.  Amen.

Devotion for Friday, August 16, 2019

“Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; You will
stretch out Your hand Against the wrath of my enemies, and Your right hand will
save me.  The Lord will perfect that
which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; do not forsake the
works of Your hands.”  (Psalm 138:7-8)

You will encounter trouble in
this life.  Though it comes, the Lord has
promised that He will be with you always.
Take comfort in the fact that you have the One who made all things not
just watching you, but watching over you.
Know that He who knows you will keep you in His presence all the days of
your life.  Be comforted and do what He
gives you to do.

Lord, this world sometimes seems fickle.  Guide me according to Your purpose to see
that in You is all hope.  No matter the
circumstance, lift my eyes up to see from whence my help comes.  It comes from You, the Maker of heaven and
earth.  You have given me tasks to
do.  Keep my hands at the tasks You have
given me to do that I may do what is pleasing in Your sight and according to Your
Word.

Lord Jesus, You have led the way
that all who follow You may walk in the right way.  Keep me on the path of righteousness that I
may now and always walk according to the goodness of the Father’s eternal
plan.  Guide me to lift up my eyes to You
and be led wherever You take me.  Help me
to humbly obey all that You command and learn to serve as I have first been
served.  Lead me today, Lord Jesus.  Amen.

Devotion for Thursday, August 15, 2019

“Yes, they shall sing of the ways of the Lord, for great is the glory
of the Lord.  Though the Lord is on high,
yet He regards the lowly; but the proud He knows from afar.”  (Psalm 138:5-6)

The Lord knows those who are
proud and haughty.  He understands those
whom He has made.  Be not amongst those
who scoff at the Lord, but walk humbly with Your God.  Be guided by the grace and mercy He has given
you knowing that in Him is truth and life.
He will regard the humble and lowly.
Come to Him humble and meek and let Him lift you up.

Lord, sometimes I do not know what to think or how to approach
You.  Teach me Your ways that I would
stand in Your presence knowing that in You is hope and the eternal future You
promise.  Guide me in all of my ways that
I would not be haughty but humble.  Lead
me to do those things which are pleasing in Your sight.  Lead me, O Lord, in the way of the truth.

Lord Jesus, You have not only
made all of these things possible, You are the one who leads.  Guide me this day that I may walk humbly with
You beside me.  Help me to better
understand the way of truth which You have revealed.  Lead me Lord in the way You know I need to go
and guide me in ways that bring glory to the Father.  May I humbly walk by Your side this day.  Amen.

Devotion for Wednesday, August 14, 2019

“In the day when I cried out, You answered me, and made me bold with
strength in my soul.  All the kings of
the earth shall praise You, O Lord, when they hear the words of Your
mouth.”  (Psalm 138:3-4)

Jesus told us not to be anxious
as to what we should say, for in the time of need the Holy Spirit will bring to
our mind the things to say.  If you are
walking with the Lord, He will guide you in all of your ways and teach you the
things He knows you need to know.
Continue to be strengthened knowing that the Lord, who is worthy of all
praise, knows what you need even before you ask.

Lord, You have always been there and all that I need has been provided
for.  Guide me, O Lord, in the way of
truth that I would now and always abide in the truths You have revealed.  Help me to understand so that when the day
comes I may give an answer of the hope that is within me.  Lead me now and always according to Your will
to look to You and praise You for all of Your goodness.

Lord Jesus, You have come that as
many as follow You would know the way of everlasting life.  Lead me this day to abide with You and to
listen as Your Spirit speaks.  Keep me
ever close in the truth that has been revealed for all people.  Let me speak Your words of truth that others
may hear You, even though it is from my mouth.  Grant that I would be bold in faith.  Amen.

Devotion for Tuesday, August 13, 2019

“I will praise You with my whole heart; before the gods I will sing praises to You.  I will worship toward Your holy temple, and praise Your name for Your lovingkindness and Your truth; for You have magnified Your word above all Your name.”  (Psalm 138:1-2)

Who is the center of your
being?  Who is the one you look to for
guidance?  The Lord God who created all
things is the One in whom we have our being.
In Him alone will you find meaning for your life.  Give praise to the One who created you, and
be one who praises Him for all His benefits.
Live into the life to which He has called you and be renewed and
transformed as one of His faithful followers.

Lord, this life seems so complex, but it is actually simple.  You are God and You have made us in Your image.  Lead me through the haze of this life that I would come into Your presence and dwell with You all the days of my life.  Guide me according to Your will to become the person You are creating me to be.  Give me Your Word to understand Your will and Your way in and through all things.

You are in me, Holy Spirit.  Daily You speak to me, but often I do not
listen.  Open my ears to hear and my eyes
to see that in humility and in simplicity I would follow Your lead.  Help me now and always to see through the
obstacles that are before me that I would live into the promised life of one
who believes.  Lift me up to do what You
direct me to do this day.  Amen.

Devotion for Monday, August 12, 2019

“O daughter of Babylon, you devastated one, how blessed will be the one who repays you with the recompense with which you have repaid us.  How blessed will be the one who seizes and dashes your little ones against the rock.”  (Psalm 137:8-9)

Babylon is no more.  There is that place of stones that remind us
that it once existed.  The Word of the
Lord speaks and tells the truth.  What
has come to pass is a witness to us that we may believe the importance to us of
the things that the Word says.  Do not
place your hope in the systems of this world, but in the One who created this
world.  Be blessed by trusting in the One
who made all things.

Lord, I look at this world and am tossed about by the waves that come
crashing.  Lift me up to see that all
things are in Your hands and that one day You will see to it that those who
have done harm come to naught.  But let
me trust in what You will do and not in myself.
Guide me, O Lord, according to Your ways that I would be led by You and
the promise of Your Word.

Come Lord Jesus and be my
minister today.  Guide me according to
Your Word and the Father’s will to walk humbly in Your presence.  Teach me to see things as You see them.  Guide me into obedience that I would humbly
obey all that You command.  You have
created me for Your purpose and have redeemed me through Your own blood.  Guide me in the salvation You have prepared
in the sight of all people.  Amen.

Devotion for Sunday, August 11, 2019

“Remember, O Lord, against the sons of Edom the day of Jerusalem, who
said, “Raze it, raze it to its very foundation.”  (Psalm 137:7)

The day will come when all the
wickedness of this world will be razed.
The faithful will be vindicated.
Do not trust in the justice of men, but trust in the One who created all
things.  Come into His presence and live
in His provision.  Know that He who
promised is not slow as some count slowness, but is patient that all of those
who are His have the opportunity to come into His eternal presence.

Lord, help me to see through whatever turmoil this world brings our
way.  Help me understand that You have a
purpose in and through all things. Guide me to live by Your promises and not by
the circumstances in which I find myself.
Help me to fulfill the meaning of the First Commandment and to have no
other gods before you, but to love, trust, and always obey You always.

Lord Jesus, You have freed us by
grace to live into Your example of being a willing and obedient child of the
Heavenly Father.  Guide me this day to
live out my faith in a way that looks to You and not to this world filled with
wickedness.  Lead me that I may walk in
Your presence and to the glory of the Father.
Keep me close to You that I may not stray from Your side.  Amen.

Devotion for Saturday, August 10, 2019

“If I forget you, O Jerusalem, may my right hand forget her skill.  May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth
if I do not remember you, if I do not exalt Jerusalem above my chief joy.”  (Psalm 137:5-6)

Consider the works of the Lord’s
hand.  What has He promised to the
faithful?  He will not forget those who
have turned to Him and trusted Him for His word.  Come to the Lord who has promised your
salvation through faith and by grace.
Turn to the One who will never forget His promise and live into the hope
He gives.  He is faithful and will
fulfill all that He has promised.

Lord, in times of trouble I wonder where You are.  Remind me through Your Word that Your promise
is always present regardless my circumstances.
Lead me in the way of hope and truth that I may now and always walk by
faith.  Keep me from stumbling over
hindrances that I may now and always live the gift of faith that You have given
me.  May I be found amongst those in whom
You have joy.

Lord Jesus, You have come that
all those who walk with You would be made complete.  Lead me throughout this day that I would
humbly walk with You my Savior wherever You lead.  Lift my eyes up to never lose focus upon Your
never-failing promises that I may be encouraged throughout this life.  Guide me, Lord Jesus, to where I need to go
and give me the will to follow You to the end.
Amen.
