Devotion for Tuesday, July 16, 2019

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together
in unity!  It is like the precious oil upon
the head, coming down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard, coming down upon the
edge of his robes.  It is like the dew of
Hermon coming down upon the mountains of Zion; for there the Lord commanded the
blessing – life forever.”  (Psalm
133:1-3)

How well do you get along with
those around you?  Are you compassionate
and gracious with others as you would like them to be with you?  The Lord desires that we dwell with one
another in peace and unity, not compromising His law or precepts, but so that
we love one another as He loves us.  Come
then to Zion and learn to live according to the righteousness of the Lord.

Lord, teach me to live this way: not asking,” who is my neighbor?”, but
loving whomever I find in my company. But I do not love others as You first
loved me.  Guide me, O Lord, in the way
of righteousness that I would learn to live as You created me to live.  Bring me to Zion that I would dwell in unity
with those who are Yours.  Create in me a
clean and willing heart, O Lord.

Lord Jesus, You have come to lead on the narrow path of righteousness all those who follow You.  Guide me, O Lord, in the way You know I need to go.  Help me now and always to look to You, the author and finisher of my faith. That I would learn from You true righteousness.  Help me through all of the difficulties I will face to become more like You each step of the way.  Amen.

Devotion for Monday, July 15, 2019

“There I will cause the horn of David to spring forth; I have prepared
a lamp for Mine anointed.  “His enemies I
will clothe with shame, but upon himself his crown shall shine.”  (Psalm 132:17-18)

How will you live?  Will you abide in the presence of the Lord
always?  With what will you adorn
yourself?  Will it be the things of the
world or with the Creator of all things?
These are the questions that guide how we live life.  Come then and live into the faith which has
been given you.  Walk in the ways which
have been established by the Lord and know His goodness and mercy.

Lord, You have come that I may learn from You and walk in the eternal
ways You have established.  Guide me, O
Lord, that I may walk in Your grace and mercy.
Lead me that I may now and forever abide with You and You with me.  Crown Your will upon my life that I would
walk in the light of Your countenance and know the goodness You give to those
who are faithful
.

Teach me, Lord Jesus, to walk in all of the ways You have modeled for the faithful.  Lead me in the goodness of Your grace and mercy that I would now and forever abide in You and You in me.  You have come to lead me by grace into faithfulness.  Guide me, O Lord, that I may become more like You this day.  Help me in every way necessary that nothing would hinder me.  Amen.

Devotion for Sunday, July 14, 2019

“This is My resting place forever; here I will dwell, for I have
desired it.  “I will abundantly bless her
provision; I will satisfy her needy with bread.
“Her priests also I will clothe with salvation, and her godly ones will
sing aloud for joy.”  (Psalm 132:14-16)

Where is your resting place?  Do you look to the One who made all things and rest in Him?  The Lord amply provides for those who seek Him.  He will bless you so that you will know the source of life and the provision He gives.  Come to the Lord, for He provides according to His goodness and mercy.  Know the Lord and walk with Him in all of your ways.  He will clothe you with righteousness.

Lord, You know my need and the things I lack.  You know all that must come that I may walk
with You faithfully.  Lead me, O Lord,
according to Your goodness.  Guide me
according to Your will.  Lift me up
according to Your grace.  In all of my
ways, take the lead that I may follow You all the days of my life.  You, O Lord, are the One who must begin and
finish my faith journey.

Lord Jesus, You have come to lead
me in the way of salvation.  You have
authored my faith and it is You alone that must finish it.  Come, O Lord, and lead me this day in all of
Your ways.  Guide me according to the
grace I need to abide in You and learn from You.  Help me each step of the way that I would
learn faithfulness from You.  In You
alone must I trust.  Teach me this today.  Amen.

Devotion for Saturday, July 13, 2019

“If your sons will keep My covenant and My testimony which I will teach
them, their sons also shall sit upon your throne forever.”  For the Lord has chosen Zion; He has desired
it for His habitation.”  (Psalm
132:12-13)

The Lord has chosen Zion.  Who are Zion?
They are the ones who believe and live into the truth that the Lord is
God.  They are the ones who seek after
the Lord.  To them the kingdom has been
promised.  Join with Zion and become as
those who are faithful.  Live as one who
has the promise of the Lord in your heart.
Be guided by His goodness and mercy now and forever.

Lord, I see these things but do not understand them.  Lead me by faith to see that You are working
amidst a world filled with wickedness to give me the life to which You have
called me.  Join me with Zion that I
would live in Your never-failing kingdom.
Guide me according to Your goodness to live each day trusting Your
leading.  May I desire Your habitation
always.

Lord Jesus, to those who believe
You have given the power to become children of God.  By Your resurrection You have promised
eternal life.  Guide me in the way of
Zion.  Lead me according to the Father’s
will.  Help me now and always to see
through the cloud of this world and abide in the truth of Your salvation.  Help me this day to live as a citizen of
Zion.  Amen.

Devotion for Friday, July 12, 2019

“For the sake of David Your servant, do not turn away the face of Your
anointed.  The Lord has sworn to David a
truth from which He will not turn back: “Of the fruit of your body I will set
upon your throne.”  (Psalm 132:10-11)

No matter what comes, the Lord
will fulfill what He promised.  We may
not understand all of the dynamics, but look and see the faithfulness of the
Lord who, from the beginning, has been faithful to those who turn to Him.  Come then and see the goodness of the
Lord.  Be guided by His ways and make
them Your ways.  Abide in the Lord and He
will bear fruit in you.

Lord, I want to know how all of this will work.  I get caught in trying to figure it out when
all I must do is trust You and the truth that You already have it figured
out.  Guide me, O Lord, in the way of
living according to Your will that I would also learn to trust You, especially
when I am unable to understand how it will come to pass.  Lead me into the goodness of Your will.

Lord Jesus, You are the
fulfilment of the promise to David.  You
have come through His lineage and are the One who saves.  Seeing this fruit come to fruition, help me
to trust in the promises You make knowing that one day it shall come to pass as
You have spoken it.  Guide me, O Lord, in
the way You know I need to go.  Let me
not stray from the truth You have revealed.
Amen.

Devotion for Thursday, July 11, 2019

“Arise, O Lord, to Your resting place, You and the ark of Your
strength.  Let Your priests be clothed
with righteousness, and let Your godly ones sing for joy.”  (Psalm 132:8-9)

We either ignore or else lift the Lord to unreachable places.  The Lord is always near and always holy.  Holy is the Lord and worthy of our praise.  Come to the Lord and be in His presence always.  Come and learn from Him what holiness is.  Come and be conformed to Him and His ways.

Lord, You know where my faults lie.  You know the issues I have.  You have given me all the grace I need.  You have called me to go on a journey with You.  Lead me, Lord, to walk the steps I need to walk and go where I need to go.  Bring me close to You that I may abide with You and in You always.  Teach me to sing songs of joy for Your presence, holiness, mercy and grace.

Lord Jesus, You have come to lift up as many as come with You in the journey of faith through the salvation which You alone provide, that all who believe would come into the eternal presence of the Father.  Guide me this day according to the Father’s will to live into the life to which You have called me.  Guide me step by step to learn by Your example, and at Your call, to obey all that You command.  Amen.

Devotion for Wednesday, July 10, 2019

“Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah, we found it in the field of
Jaar.  Let us go into His dwelling place;
let us worship at His footstool.”  (Psalm
132:6-7)

The Lord has created all
things.  They are all His, for He made
them.  He shares with all freely.  But what could we possibly build that
compares to His magnificence?  Do not
dwell upon a dwelling place, but dwell with the Lord in the life He has given
you.  Come into His presence with praise
and thanksgiving and know that the Lord is our hope for an eternal future.  Abide in His presence all your days.

Lord, lead me in the way You would have me go.  I have wandered through this life and sought
after the things of my heart and mind.
Guide me now to seek after those things which are pleasing in Your
sight.  Show me according to Your
goodness how I may now and always seek Your will and live according to Your
purpose.  Help me, Lord, to see clearly
the way You would have me go.

Lord Jesus, through Your Spirit, You have shown me that You have come to save.  Guide me now, O Lord, that I may walk in the way of salvation.  Lead me to do such things as You would do them, Help me now and always to live according to the Father’s will that I would learn to fully abide in You as You abide in me.  Let me walk this journey of faith with You.  Amen.

Devotion for Tuesday, July 9, 2019

“Surely I will not enter my house, nor lie on my bed; I will not give
sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids, until I find a place for the Lord, a
dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.”
(Psalm 132:3-5)

Who can build something that can
adequately house the Lord?  But why build
something?  Why not invite the Lord to
dwell in you.  He made you and this is
what He has asked to do.  Come then,
abide in Him and He in You, that you may be the dwelling of the Lord.  Know that in Him is truth and life and apart
from Him is nothing.  The Almighty will
dwell with and in You always if you receive Him.

Lord, this is a great mystery, yet this is what You have said.  Not with gold or silver, but with my life do
I invite you in.  Come then and prepare
my life to receive You that where You are I may also be.  Guide me according to Your goodness and mercy
to see that in You alone is all hope and glory.
May I humbly learn from You and dwell with You and You with me all the
days of my life.

Lord Jesus, You have come for
this very reason.  You told us that if we
destroyed the temple You would raise it up on the third day.  That is what You did.  You showed us that the temple was Your
body.  You have invited me to abide in
You and You in me that I might do good works that bring glory to the
Father.  Lead me, Lord Jesus, in the way
of everlasting life that I may learn to abide in You forever.  Amen.

Devotion for Monday, July 8, 2019

“Remember, O Lord, on David’s behalf, all his affliction; how he swore
to the Lord and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob,” (Psalm 132:1-2)

David was an interesting
person.  On the one hand, he was so worldly
and sinful.  On the other, he always
turned to the Lord and loved Him.  Love
of the Lord is the heart of the faith.
Love as the Lord loves.  Come into
His presence and know that the Lord is always good and kind.  Trust in Him above all things and be guided
by His goodness and mercy.  Come to the
Lord as David did.

Lord, You know the conflicts in my heart and soul.  Guide me, O Lord, through all of the pitfalls
that come my way.  Help me in every time
of need.  Help me to look to You first
and foremost.  Whether I have sinned or
am in adversity, guide me, O Lord, according to Your goodness and mercy.  Give me a heart that longs after You.  Grant that my soul would live into the life
You have given me.

Lord Jesus, You have come that those who follow You would be lifted up with You to become like You.  Lead me this day, O Lord, that I would look to You as my guide, strength and shield.  Help me at all times to include You in all that I do.  May I be found in Your presence, walking with You throughout all of my days.  You have come to save me Lord, and in You I hope.  Amen.

Devotion for Sunday, July 7, 2019

“O Lord, my heart is not proud, nor my eyes haughty; nor do I involve
myself in great matters, or in things too difficult for me.  Surely I have composed and quieted my soul;
like a weaned child rests against his mother, my soul is like a weaned child
within me.  O Israel, hope in the Lord
From this time forth and forever.”
(Psalm 131:1-3)

Listen to the list of things
that take us in the wrong direction.  Too
proud, haughty eyes and being involved in things that are too deep to be able
to handle.  Stay away from these things
and quiet your soul.  Be composed, quiet
your soul and come before the Lord.
These are the ways the Lord gives to
prepare you to walk on the journey of faith with Him.  Come to the place where He can work on you.

Meditate upon this list and you see that these are the common issues we
all have.  We want to be more than we
are; but we are whom the Lord made us to be.
Be guided by what the Lord has said is necessary.  Face your pride and walk humbly with the LORD.  Who are you that you can boast to anyone about
anything?  Be contrite and humble when
You come before the Lord; but also know that He hears and will listen to your
prayers.

Lord Jesus, You are the exemplar of the godly life.  All of these things listed You are.  You who are the King of kings became a servant.  Help me to follow Your example and live into the life to which You are calling me.  Guide me, O Lord, now and always to simply live the life You have given me knowing that only in You is there hope.  May I be found walking like You Jesus in this world.  Amen.
