Devotion for Sunday, August 30, 2026

“Zacharias said to the angel, “How will I know this for certain? For I am an old man and my wife is advanced in years” (Luke 1:18).
“God, how do I know You can do what You say?” How often does the world say just this? The Creator of all things is questioned about His ability. The world may do this, but one of the Lord’s priests? Yes, we all like sheep go astray and do not believe. We fear the petty bullies, but do not love the One who first loved us. One may become old and shriveled. So what? With God, all things are possible.
Lord, You know where my unbelief needs help. I look at the situation, and I do not see how it can be resolved. You created the heavens and earth and all that is. The world is crazy and believes in just about anything other than You. Help me to listen when You speak and obey what You are telling me to do. Guide me in the way of everlasting life which You give, even when I doubt and think it impossible.
Lord Jesus, You were crucified and resurrected as a part of the Father’s plan and You did this for me. The world screams at me to ignore You; but You have given me faith. In every situation where I think it impossible, You grant a way to faithfully follow by Your grace. Lead me in the way I need to go so that I live believing and do not act with unbelief. Help me learn how to live in this faith You have given. Amen.
