“Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and have them put to death.  You will be hated by all because of My name, but the one who endures to the end, he will be saved” (Mark 13:12-13).

The name of Jesus evokes many different responses.  Some react with vitriol and hatred, others with mockery and derision.  There are even times when those who say they are Christian will tell you to tone it down and not take things so seriously.  Jesus has warned us of these things in order that we would not be led away from the salvation He gives.  We are encouraged to endure steadfastly to the end.

Lord, it is not about being right about all things nor can it be about some special insight.  It is about simply holding to the truth that You have come and are our salvation.  Let me not be carried away by the antipathy of this world nor become indifferent but simply hold fast to the truth that You are the One through whom all things have their being and that You alone are our salvation.

Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You have come to us to guide as many as hear Your voice into truth.  Help me to let Your word hold me to be true to You.  No matter what happens around me, guide me in Your goodness and mercy to not let other things get in the way.  You have called me to walk with You in faith.  Guide me today to humbly walk with You and hold fast to the truth You have given me.  Amen.
