“When he came to the other side, to the country of the Gadarenes, two demoniacs coming out of the tombs met him. They were so fierce that no one could pass that way” (Matthew 8:28).

There is the God of heaven and earth.  Also, there are the powers and forces of darkness in this world.  Never forget, our Creator is the One through whom all things have their being.  The good things of this world have, all too often, gone  bad.  We see this in human history.  Indeed, there is the question of why, but never forget that all things are in the Lord’s hands and we, who have gone bad by sin, are offered the gift of redemption in Christ.

Lord, I do not fully understand good and evil, yet I know it is all around me and in me.  Let me not fall into the trap of sin and deny such things as are plainly shown in Scripture.  Guide me in the goodness You give to be one who overcomes by Your grace the evil in me.  Help me to understand fully that You are God, and I am in Your hands, as are all things.

Lead me, Lord, through, the wilderness of this life.  Guide me today and each day so that I look to You, the author and finisher of my faith.  Help me to understand that for Your reasons, You allow many things that I may not understand, but You have already overcome evil for those who turn to You.  Lead me to the salvation You have procured that I may walk with You always.  Amen.
