“You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness, but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen” (2 Peter 3:17-18).

Jesus told us the parable of the wheat and the tares.  There are those who are unprincipled, and they are among the church.  Do not be led astray by those who will lead you away from the truth.  Listen as the Holy Spirit ministers to you and be guided by the word that endures forever.  The Word will not lead you astray, but you have the free will to revert to the old Adam and listen to the rebellious voice which does not speak the truth.

Lord, Your word is truth and Your word sets me free, restraining the old Adam and letting me know the true word when I hear it.  Guide me in Your goodness and mercy so that may I abide in You and You in me.  Lead me according to all of Your promises.  Help me to be discerning and accept the words that are true and reject them when they are not.  Guide me into truth that I may live in Your truth always, and open my ears to hear and mind to understand when You speak.

Lord Jesus, You died so that those with ears to hear and understand would not perish, but have everlasting life.  Guide me in the truth You have spoken so that I may be led by the hope You give me.  When one tries to lead me astray, let me understand what is being said and done so that I may hold fast to what is true.  Guide me, Lord, in the way You have established and help me always to remain in Your grace.  Amen.
