“For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control” (2Timothy 1:6-7).
When you find yourself losing control, feeling weak, and hating, you know that this comes from the wickedness of this age. God’s power and love grant self-control which will overcome these things. Do not fall into the trap of living the way the world does, but let your heart be transformed by being renewed by the Spirit of God. Live in His power as He prepares you for eternity.
Lord, You know how often I follow the path of the world rather than live in the power You give me by grace. Each time the struggle comes, help me learn to trust You a little more. Guide me, Lord, in order that I may humbly walk in Your power and with Your purpose guiding me. Lead me to know that in You there is hope and the eternal future which grace promises. Fan the flame of this gift You have given me so that my heart may be on fire for You.
Lord Jesus, all power and authority belong to You. Guide me this day, Lord, in the fire of Your love so that I may live in the self-control You give. Help me to learn how to have Your way as my default reaction and I ask You to overcome the worldliness that is in me. Jesus, You have provided all that is needed and You have given me what I need for today. Lead me in Your provision so that I may grow to be more like You today. Amen.
