Devotion for Friday, April 23, 2021

“But I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better; yet to remain on in the flesh is more necessary for your sake” (Philippians 1:23-24).

Do as the Lord chooses for you to do.  Live according to His will.  The Lord will do what He does through you and it will work out.  You have His promise.  Be guided not by the whims of this world, but by the earnest desire to be on the journey of faith wherever it will lead you.  The winds of this world will always blow contrary to the truth of Christ.  It will be contentious until we arrive home.  Live for Christ as He died for you.

Lord, help me to see more clearly the truth which You have revealed for all to see.  Lead me in the Gospel way so that I would walk according to Your direction and in the Father’s will.  Through all things, help me to be obedient in order that I would do what is pleasing in the Father’s sight.  Teach me what is necessary to and what is not needed.  Guide me to simply do as You would have me do.

Lord Jesus, You have come to lead the way so that we would do what is necessary according to the Father’s will.  Help me not be confused by these things, but to trust that all will work together for good as is promised for those who love You.  Lead me this day to do good, seek You, and love my neighbor.  Through all things, keep my eye on the prize so that I may walk this life in and through faith.  Amen.
