“In love He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved” (Ephesians 1:5-6).

In the Gospel of John, we are told that the power to become children of God is given to those who see the light shining in the darkness.  Here, it is said that He who knows us destined that we would be conformed to the image of Christ.  Walk then as one who has been given the greatest of all gifts and learn to love as He loves.  Walk in the way of the Lord and live into the purpose for which You have been created.

Lord, there are many things I do not know.  You are always present and You, who knows all things, have called all who have faith to be conformed to Your image.  Lead me this day in the way of faith so that I would humbly walk according to Your instruction and in the Father’s will.  You have freely bestowed upon me the gifts of grace.  Help me learn to bestow these gifts upon others.

Lord Jesus, in You is all hope and an eternal future.  You have come so that we may have life and have it abundantly.  Help me to live this life which You offer.  By Your grace, You have given me the power to become like You.  Help me become what You know I will be and lead me so that I may make my life’s focus that which is good, eternal, and pleasing to the Father.  Amen.
