“The husband must fulfill his duty to his wife, and likewise also the wife to her husband.  The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does; and likewise also the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does” (1 Corinthians 7:3-4).

These are elemental things.  This again is not a law.  Look carefully and you will see that we are not made for ourselves, but for the other.  Do not live in a self-seeking way, but in the way for which You have been created.  Know that we are in a struggle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powerful forces.  Be led by the Lord, and not by anyone else’s ideas, and know life.

Lord, open my mind and heart that I might live for the truths You have revealed once for all.  Guide me in Your goodness that I may now and always abide in the way of life.  Help me to see what is needed and then help me head in that direction.  Lord, You alone must lead me in the way I need to go.  Guide me by Your goodness in the way of salvation.

Lord Jesus, time and again You demonstrated doing what was needed for the other.  You lived grace and gave to those in need.  Help me to learn from Your example that I would not weigh things according to what I can gain, but in terms of how it would help me to learn to be faithful.  Guide me, Lord Jesus, this day in the way I should go that I may now and always live into the will of the Father.  Amen.
