Devotion for Saturday, October 12, 2019

“Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in
the Lord his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them;
who keeps truth forever, who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food
to the hungry.”  (Psalm 146:5-7a)

Unhappy is the one who rejects
the God of Jacob.  Yes, there are many
unhappy people in the world.  Do not be
misled by the wiles of this world.  There
is a constant fight to keep people from understanding the simple truth that the
Lord provides in all seasons for all living things.  Come then to the Lord and give thanks for His
goodness and mercy.  See that in Him is
true life.

Lord, all day long I hear the diatribes of people who believe all kinds
of things.  Keep my mind and heart on You
that I may not walk along the trails that lead to unhappiness.  Guide me according to Your goodness to know
that in You alone is the hope for all ages.
Lead me into the life You have created that I may now and always give
thanks for Your manifold blessings.

Come Holy Spirit and direct my
heart in the way of genuine faith.  Lead
me according to Your goodness to walk humbly this day in the Father’s sight,
being thankful for all the provision I see around me.  Prepare me to now and always live a life of
thanksgiving and praise.  Help me to
share with others as You have shared with me.
Show me how to walk as You would have me walk today and every day.  Amen.

Devotion for Friday, October 11, 2019

“Do not put your trust in princes, nor in a son of man, in whom there
is no help.  His spirit departs, he
returns to his earth; in that very day his plans perish.”  (Psalm 146:3-4)

Sadly, too many people put their
trust in temporary things.  Set your
priority on eternal things.  The Lord is
forever and He has created all things.
Do not trust in those things created, but in the One who made all
things.  In Him alone is the hope of all
the ages.  The Lord is forever and in Him
is the only forever hope.  Walk humbly
before your Creator and trust in Him above all things.

Lord, I am led astray by those people and things around me that tempt
me.  Lead me not into temptation, but
into Your eternal arms of grace and mercy.
Help me to see that in You alone is the hope of the ages.  Guide me according to Your eternal plan and
purpose to walk as You know I need to walk that I may be guided forever by Your
Word and Your will.  Lead me away from
all that is temporary.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for coming
to lead the way for the faithful.  Guide
me now and always in the everlasting way of salvation that I may become ever more
like You.  Help me this day to see that
You have come that all who believe might have life and have it abundantly.  Guide me in the way of truth which You have
established that I may walk in the way of Your salvation.  Amen.

Devotion for Thursday, October 10, 2019

“Praise the Lord!  Praise the Lord, O my soul!  While I live I will praise the Lord; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.”  (Psalm 146:1-2)

What are you here for?  The question of the ages stands before
you.  You were created to worship and you
do so all the day long.  But what is the
direction of your worship?  Is it
yourself?  Is it someone else?  Is it the things in your life?  Come before the One who created you and worship
Him alone, for He alone is worthy of all worship and praise.  Sing praise to the Lord while you have your
being.

Lord, You know my heart and where I am.
Guide me in the way of life that I would now and always abide in You and
You in me.  Lead me in the way of worship
which fulfills the purpose for which I have been created.  Guide me in the upward path to see that in
You alone is all hope and being.  Help me
in the peace You give to be thankful and full of praise.

Lord Jesus, You have come to lead
the way in righteousness.  Lead me now
and always in the way of life that I may abide in You as You guide me into the
way of everlasting life.  May I humbly
submit to Your leading and grow in Your likeness day by day.  You have given me my being and in You is my
purpose.  Show me, O Lord, the way You
know I need to go.  Amen.

Devotion for Wednesday, October 9, 2019

“ He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He will also hear
their cry and will save them.  The Lord
keeps all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy.  My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord,
and all flesh will bless His holy name forever and ever.”  (Psalm 145:19-21)

What is the course upon which
you will set your life?  Will it be upon
your own ideas?  Come into the presence
of the Lord and walk with Him all the days of your life.  Know that He who made you knows you and all
that you need.  He will guard you against
the adversaries that would hinder your walking with Him.  The righteous He will bring to be with Him,
but the wicked He will destroy.

Lord, in the diversity of all the people of the world, each going their
own way, You have created the path that leads to righteousness.  Guide me along the right path to walk now and
forever with You.  Lead me according to
Your goodness to see that in You is the hope for all people.  Lead me to be faithful as I walk through this
age.  Lead me in the way of salvation
which You have prepared before all people.

By the power of Your Spirit and
in the way of Christ, lead me, O Lord, the way You know I need to walk.  Help me not stumble along the way, but walk
uprightly in Your presence always.  Guide
me today and every day to know that You hear all of my prayers and have set
before me the course to walk.  May I walk
humbly with You my Lord and learn from You the way in which to live. Amen.

Devotion for Tuesday, October 8, 2019

“The Lord is righteous in all His ways and kind in all His deeds.  The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to
all who call upon Him in truth.”  (Psalm
145:17-18)

Many contend with the Lord,
wanting creation to be as they imagine it ought to be.  “I want things this way.”  But the Lord, who made all things, has
established the course and is kind to all, gracious and slow to anger.  All who come to Him in truth will see things
as they are and come to know the fullness of His kindness and goodness.  Come to the One who made all things and
explore truth.

Lord, I have so many ideas and they fill my head.  Lead me in the way of truth that I may now
and always abide in truth.  Guide me
according to Your goodness and mercy to be truthful with you and others.  Let me not be caught up in the false ways of
this world, but know that You alone are God and there is no other.  Lead me, O Lord, into Your presence now and
forever.

Lord Jesus, You are the way and
truth.  You have come to reveal the life
we were created to live.  Guide me this
day to walk humbly with You and discover more about how to live.  Teach me to be humble as You are humble that
I would reflect what You have taught us and live according to the Father’s
will.  Guide me now and always in the way
of salvation which You have prepared.
Amen.

Devotion for Monday, October 7, 2019

“The eyes of all look to You, and You give them their food in due
time.  You open Your hand and satisfy the
desire of every living thing.”  (Psalm
145:15-16)

Think about all of the living
things in the world.  Most are provided
for without out thinking about it.  The
Lord has built provision into His creation.
Marvel at the intricacy.  All these
things the Lord has done.  He has
provided in all seasons and each receives what is needed in its time.  Marvel and do not be misled by those who
claim credit for what the Lord alone can and has done for what He has created.

Lord, there are many ways in which You have provided for me and I have
not even been aware.  You provide for all
of Your creation.  Guide me, O Lord, in
the ways You would have me go with awareness and thankfulness for all that You
have done.  Lead me now and always to
live a life that thanks You for the many ways in which You provide.  Let me perceive the abundance of Your
provision.

Lord Jesus, You said that in the
freedom given by grace we would have the abundant life.  Lead me to see what is before my eyes that I
would become grateful for the many things that are around me.  Remind me to see that You have and do provide
for all.  In gratitude, guide my heart to
be thankful in all things and for all things knowing that You know our needs
even before we ask.  Amen.

Devotion for Sunday, October 6, 2019

“Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your dominion endures
throughout all generations.  The Lord
sustains all who fall and raises up all who are bowed down.”  (Psalm 145:13-14)

In the mystery of this fallen
world, the Lord foreknows those who will come by grace into His eternal and
loving arms.  He also knows the ones who
will continue in rebellion.  It is not a
matter of getting things right, for no one is able.  It is a matter of trusting the One who made
all things.  Come into the presence of
the Lord and know that in Him are promises which are fulfilled to bring true
life.

Lord, help me to see through the mess of this age and know that only in
Your presence is it possible to see the life that You give.  Lift me up, for I have fallen.  Guide me along the paths of righteousness
according to Your Word.  Lead me in the
way You know I need to go that I might abide now, and forever walk humbly in
Your presence.  Show me how to be
righteous even as You are righteous.

Lord Jesus, You have come to
establish Your everlasting kingdom through grace and mercy.  Teach me Your ways and lead me to follow them.  Break through the noise of this age and help
me always to see that You alone know all that is needed.  Lift me up and set my feet on the path You
know I need to walk.  Let me live in Your
dominion and follow You all the days of my life.  Amen.

Devotion for Saturday, October 5, 2019

“All Your works shall give thanks to You, O Lord, and Your godly ones
shall bless You.  They shall speak of the
glory of Your kingdom and talk of Your power; to make known to the sons of men
Your mighty acts and the glory of the majesty of Your kingdom.”  (Psalm 145:10-12)

The Lord has accounted for all
things.  All things will work together
for good for those who love the Lord.
Yes, there are difficult times and events, but what is it the Lord does
not already know about?  Trust in the
Lord always and see that in Him alone is goodness and mercy, and know that the
Lord will cover all things.  Trust in Him
above all things, for He alone is God.

Lord, on this journey of faith, there are things that happen that I do
not understand.  Help me to not stumble
because of my inability to understand and to trust You above all things.  Grant me faith amidst difficulties to see
that in You alone is hope and an eternal future.  You alone are able to accomplish all that
needs to be done.  Lead me, O Lord, in
the way of everlasting life now and always.

Lord Jesus, You have already
accomplished salvation for as many as believe.
Lead me this day and every day in the way of truth.  Guide me in the way You know I need to go.  Keep me on the path of faith that I would
forever abide in You and You in me.  Lead
me each step of the way to trust that You have accomplished all that needs to
be done.  Grant my faith to be evident as
I journey with You.  Amen.

Devotion for Friday, October 4, 2019

“The Lord is gracious and merciful; slow to anger and great in
lovingkindness.  The Lord is good to all,
and His mercies are over all His works.”
(Psalm 145:8-9)

It is good the Lord is slow to
anger.  He has been patient with
humanity.  He is awaiting the number of
those who are and will be His forever.
Learn from the Lord and trust that all things are in His hands.  Be guided by the goodness of His mercy and know
that He is accomplishing what He has purposed.
Come into His presence to be guided by Him now and forever and live with
Him.

Lord, in this mixed up world I see so many variances and so much
anger.  Sin causes grief and
heartache.  Guide me in Your ways that I
too would be slow to anger and abounding in Your steadfast love.  Lead me by Your grace and mercy to see
through immediate circumstances and be led by the eternal promises You have
given us all.  Lead me in the way of
salvation and into everlasting life.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for being
the answer to fallen humanity.  You have
come to lead the way for as many as will follow.  Guide me, O Lord, in the way of everlasting
life.  Lead me according to the Father’s
will to do those things which are pleasing in His sight.  May I now and always take Your lead in every
situation and do things in a way that is right, fitting, and abounding with
Your love.  Amen.

Devotion for Thursday, October 3, 2019

“On the glorious splendor of Your majesty and on Your wonderful works,
I will meditate.  Men shall speak of the
power of Your awesome acts, and I will tell of Your greatness.  They shall eagerly utter the memory of Your
abundant goodness and will shout joyfully of Your righteousness.”  (Psalm 145:5-6)

The faithful speak, act and
display the truth of the Lord in their lives in and through all they do.  In Him they have the abundant life that comes
through salvation.  The faithful of the
Lord live in the hope that is theirs through what the Lord has done.  We all are invited into the life of
righteousness that comes to those who follow in the Lord’s footsteps and take
up the new life He gives.

Lord, lead me in the way of salvation.
Guide me according to Your goodness to see that in You is the hope and
glory for all people.  Lead me to be one
of those whose light shines through all I say and do.  Guide me, O Lord, in the way of righteousness
that I may walk in the way of Christ my Savior.
Help me not so much see in order to believe, but believe and then see
that the life You give is eternal.

Lord Jesus, You have walked this
earth to show the way, for You are the way, that all who believe would walk in
the light of Your countenance.  Guide me,
O Lord, in the way of righteousness that I may now and always abide in You and
You in me.  May I be found in Your
presence and purpose now and forever.
Lead me, my Savior, in the way You know I need to go.  Amen.
