“Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them; who keeps truth forever, who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry.”  (Psalm 146:5-7a)

Unhappy is the one who rejects the God of Jacob.  Yes, there are many unhappy people in the world.  Do not be misled by the wiles of this world.  There is a constant fight to keep people from understanding the simple truth that the Lord provides in all seasons for all living things.  Come then to the Lord and give thanks for His goodness and mercy.  See that in Him is true life.

Lord, all day long I hear the diatribes of people who believe all kinds of things.  Keep my mind and heart on You that I may not walk along the trails that lead to unhappiness.  Guide me according to Your goodness to know that in You alone is the hope for all ages.  Lead me into the life You have created that I may now and always give thanks for Your manifold blessings.

Come Holy Spirit and direct my heart in the way of genuine faith.  Lead me according to Your goodness to walk humbly this day in the Father’s sight, being thankful for all the provision I see around me.  Prepare me to now and always live a life of thanksgiving and praise.  Help me to share with others as You have shared with me.  Show me how to walk as You would have me walk today and every day.  Amen.

Thank you for these devotions. They give me a choice every day, or, rather, make it easier to make the right choice, to start the day in a faithful, prayerful, and comforting way.
