Devotion for Monday, September 30, 2019

“Sculptured in palace style; that our barns may be full, supplying all
kinds of produce; that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in
our fields; that our oxen may be well laden; that there be no breaking in or
going out; that there be no outcry in our streets.  Happy are the people who are in such a state;
happy are the people whose God is the Lord!”
(Psalm 144:12b-15)

The Lord has provided such
abundance and we have experienced a time where these things are true and yet
the people are not happy.  It is not the
abundance of things that bring joy to people, but the Lord who is the provider
of all things that brings joy, Come into the presence of the Lord and know the
goodness of His grace and mercy that You may have the truly abundant life.

Lord, teach me that it is not what I have nor what I experience that
determines who I am, but You who provides all things.  Guide me, O Lord, in the way of everlasting
life that I would now and forever abide in You as You abide in me.  Guide me according to Your goodness to see
that in You alone is the hope of all the ages.
Lead me, O Lord, in the way of eternal life.

Lord Jesus, You are the way,
truth and life.  Lead me in the way You
have established that I may now and always walk according to the Word You have
given.  Guide me day by day to live the
life You have demonstrated that I may always abide in You and see made true the
promise that You will abide in me.  Guide
me, O Lord, now and always to walk in Your example and experience the true
abundance of eternal life.  Amen.

Devotion for Sunday, September 29, 2019

“Rescue me and deliver me from the hand of foreigners, whose mouth
speaks lying words, and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood – that
our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as
pillars,” (Psalm 144:11-12a)

There are those in the world who
speak with lying tongues.  Their mouths
are full of deceit.  It may be
politically incorrect to say there are liars, but the Lord has declared that
there are those who will not abide by the truth.  You, however, have the words of eternal life
before you.  Will you walk in the way of
truth or in the way of those who speak with deceitful tongues?

Lord, open my ears to hear the truth.
Guide me according to Your goodness to see that in You alone is all that
is needed.  Guide me according to Your
goodness to walk in the way of the righteous.
Lead me according to Your will to live the kind of life that Your grace
calls me to, that I may be upright in Your sight.  Help me now and always to see that in You
alone is all hope.

Come, Holy Spirit, and minister
to my heart that I may see the goodness of the way of salvation.  Lead me in righteousness for Your sake that I
may learn humbly from You.  Let the words
of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight.  Guide me now and always to live into the life
to which I have been called by grace.
Lead me, Holy Spirit, in the way of life.  Amen.

Devotion for Saturday, September 28, 2019

“I will sing a new song to You, O God; on a harp of ten strings I will
sing praises to You, the One who gives salvation to kings, who delivers David
His servant from the deadly sword.”
(Psalm 144:9-10)

The Lord is the deliverer.  It is He who shall save His people.  Come into the presence of the Lord and know
the salvation He prepared beforehand for those who come to Him.  Come, walk under the grace of the Lord who
has prepared these things.  From the
snare of the fowler and the deadly pestilence, the Lord will save those who
trust in Him.  Walk in the salvation of
the Lord.

Lord, I look around and the world seems so busy with people scurrying
to and fro.  Guide me through the mess of
this world that I may walk humbly with You my God and Savior.  Lead me in the way You would have me go that
I may now and always walk according to Your will.  Lead me in the way of righteousness that I
may forever be bound to You, the One Who makes all things possible.

Lord Jesus, You have come that we
may have life and have it abundantly.
Lead me, O Lord, in the way of righteousness.  Show me the way You know I need to go that I
may forever abide in You and You in me.
Help me now and always to see that in You alone is the hope of glory and
that in You alone is there salvation.
Lead me this day in Your grace according to the Father’s will.  Amen.

Devotion for Friday, September 27, 2019

“Stretch out Your hand from above; rescue me and deliver me out of great waters, from the hand of foreigners, whose mouth speaks lying words, and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.”  (Psalm 144:7-8)

The Lord will protect those who
turn to Him.  Do not be guided by the
constant noise of this world, but by the goodness and truth of the Word of the
Lord.  Know that in Him alone are the
words of life.  Yes, the world constantly
speaks lies.  The Lord always speaks
truth.  Be guided now and always by the
One who made all things and knows all things; in Him alone is there true life.

Lord, I am often confused by the things I hear.  Guide me, O Lord, in the way of life.  Lead me according to Your goodness to see
that in You alone is hope and a future that is forever.  Lead me to live in this age as You direct and
prepare to become like Christ in all things.
Guide me now and always in the way of salvation which You have prepared in
the sight of all people.

Thank You Lord Jesus that You have made the way possible for as many as believe.  Guide me now and always in the way of true life.  Lead me in the upward way that I may always follow Your example.  Help me in times of difficulty and doubt that I may overcome the lies and deceit of this world.  In You alone do I find salvation.  Show me, Lord Jesus, the way of truth.  Amen.

Devotion for Thursday, September 26, 2019

“Bow down Your heavens, O Lord, and come down; touch the mountains, and
they shall smoke.  Flash forth lightning
and scatter them; shoot out Your arrows and destroy them.”  (Psalm 144:5-6)

The day will come when all wickedness
will be judged.  The Lord is Sovereign
and this age is fleeting.  Do not be
alarmed, for the Lord has spoken of these things, but instead be uplifted by
the continuous presence of the Lord and know His promises.  Wickedness shall forever be banished and the
goodness of the Lord shall reign forever.
Walk in the way of the upright.

Lord, lead me in the way of righteousness.  Guide me according to Your goodness and mercy
to not seek vengeance, but to trust in the truth of Your Word.  Guide me, O Lord, in the way of the righteous
and lift up my countenance to look to You alone for all things.  You are God and there is no other.  You know all things and everything is in Your
hands.  Lead me now and always.

Lord Jesus, You have come to show
the way through this life of heartache into Your presence.  Lead me now and always to see through the
haze of this age and live according to the goodness of Your Word.  Teach me this day those things which lead me
in the right direction.  Help me to see
that You have the words of eternal life and to abide by the Word You have given
me.  Amen.

Devotion for Wednesday, September 25, 2019

“Lord, what is man, that You take knowledge of him?  Or the son of man, that You are mindful of
him?  Man is like a breath; his days are
like a passing shadow.”  (Psalm 144:3-4)

People think all kinds of things
about who they are, but compared to the Lord, they are here for a moment and
then gone.  The Lord is forever.  He invites those who are His to come to Him
and know that in Him is true and eternal life.
Come then to the Lord and walk with the One who made You, knowing that
He knows You.  Who are you?  One of the Lord’s created ones.

Lord, guide me away from the arrogance of this age.  Help me to see that I am like a wisp of wind
that blows by.  Guide me to live life as
You know life should be lived.  Guide me
to be the kind of person that loves You with all my being.  Lead me in the way of life that is
everlasting.  Help me now and always to
keep my focus upon those things which are right and good.

Lord Jesus, You have come in the
frailty of human life and lived among us.
You came with purpose to show the way to everlasting life.  Guide me, O Lord, this day to do what is
right and fitting knowing that You have the words of everlasting life.  Lead me and I shall follow.  Show me the way You know I need to go that I
may go there.  Guide me in Your goodness,
O Lord.  Amen.

Devotion for Tuesday, September 24, 2019

“Blessed be the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle – my lovingkindness and my fortress, my high tower and my deliverer, my shield and the One in whom I take refuge, who subdues my people under me.”  (Psalm 144:1-2)

The Lord prepares those who are
His for the tasks He assigns them.  We
all must battle in this age for those values which are ours.  Are your values the values of the Lord?  Are you seeking to do the will of the Lord?  Be guided by His goodness and mercy and seek
the Lord while He may be found.  Know
that in Him is life and eternity.  Let
the Lord always be your refuge.

Lord, grant discernment that I would see what is right.  Guide me according to Your goodness to know
that in You is the hope of the ages.
Lead me in the way You know I need to go to prosper in Your grace.  Be my refuge and guide me to always be in
Your presence.  Help me forward through
this life according to Your grace.  Show
me the way by Your Spirit to listen, grow and follow.

Lord Jesus, You have come to lead
the way along the narrow road.  You know
the pitfalls of this age.  You know the
problems that come about.  You have come
that, abiding in You, we may have a life filled with the peace that surpasses
all understanding.  Guide me in the way
of peace that I may wield the sword of the Spirit where needed, but always live
according to Your Gospel.  Lead me Lord
Jesus now and forever.  Amen.

Devotion for Monday, September 23, 2019

“Revive me, O Lord, for Your name’s sake!  For Your righteousness’ sake bring my soul
out of trouble.  In Your mercy cut off my
enemies, and destroy all those who afflict my soul; for I am Your
servant.”  (Psalm 143:11-12)

There are seasons of life.  The one thing you will hear from those who
have lived most of their lives is that it goes by quickly.  The Lord has revived you and He will
again.  For all those who believe, He
will revive them on the last day to be with Him where He is.  Come then and walk in the comfort of the Lord
knowing that it is He who makes promises that will be fulfilled, and will be
everlasting.

Lord, bring me through those troubled times.  Guide me according to Your purposes to be one
who leans on You in good times and bad.
Let me always see You amidst the times that are, for me, cloudy and know
that in Your presence is hope and an everlasting future.  Keep my enemies from having any effect on my
relationship with You that I may now and always walk with You.

Lord Jesus, we all need
salvation.  You have come to prepare and
lead the way.  Guide me, O Lord, in the
way You have prepared that I would walk with You all the days of my life.  Lead me in Your goodness to know that in You
alone is hope and glory.  Guide me, O
Lord, in Your lovingkindness to reflect Your countenance in all I do, loving
friend and enemy alike.  Amen.

Devotion for Sunday, September 22, 2019

“Deliver me, O Lord, from my enemies; in You I take shelter.  Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God;
Your Spirit is good.  Lead me in the land
of uprightness.”  (Psalm 143:9-10)

The Lord is your deliverer.  It is He who has come to the rescue.  Do not be deceived by those who seek to lead
you in other directions, but turn to the Lord and know His goodness and mercy.  Being upright is to stand before the Lord as one
of His redeemed.  Standing before the
Lord is the gift of grace.  Live by faith
and know that your redeemer lives and at the last you shall see Him face to
face.

Lord, this world does tug at me all the time.  I hear the many voices that are calling and I
hear the contradictions.  Lead me, O Lord,
away from the wickedness of this age and into Your presence.  Give me ears to hear and eyes to see that I
may not be deceived by this world but be renewed by Your grace and mercy.  Teach me to stand upright in the tents of the
righteous and live according to Your will.

Jesus, You have promised to abide
in me if I abide in You.  You have said
that I can bear fruit only if I abide in You.
Lead me to understand what You mean more and more each day that I would
more fully live this life of faith that You have given me.  Guide me according to Your goodness to see
that in You alone is there hope and a future.
Guide me, Lord Jesus, according to the Father’s will.  Amen.

Devotion for Saturday, September 21, 2019

“Answer me speedily, O Lord; my spirit fails!  Do not hide Your face from me, lest I be like
those who go down into the pit.  Cause me
to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, for in You do I trust; cause me to
know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to You.”  (Psalm 143:7-8)

In times of trouble, the Lord is always near.  We may be far off, but the Lord is near.  Do not despair, nor seek the way of the wicked.  Come into the everlasting and constant presence of God all the days of Your life.  He who created You knows you and will vindicate you in His time.

Lord, teach me to see through the wickedness of this world and to know
that only in You is there hope and a future.
Guide me, O Lord, in the way of truth that I would forever walk with
You.  Teach me Your precepts and help me
to apply them to my everyday living.  You
are the One through whom all things have their being and apart from You,
nothing has being or purpose.

Come, Holy Spirit, and teach me
the way of Christ my Savior.  Lead me in
His example to become more like Him each day.
Guide me in the goodness of Your mercy that I would now and forever
abide in Him and He in me.  Lead me in
the way of righteousness, most especially in those times where my heart is far
off.  Raise my eyes to see Your
countenance upon all I think and do.
Amen.
