Devotion for Friday, February 8, 2019

“When he is judged, let him come forth guilty, and let his prayer
become sin. Let his days be few; let another take his office. Let his children
be fatherless and his wife a widow.” (Psalm 109:7-9)

Those who do evil will come to
an evil end. We each have experienced those who have done us wrong in this life
and it is natural to want revenge. Justice belongs to the Lord, for He alone
knows all things. Come to Him in prayer and know that He hears you. The wicked
will not escape the Lord’s wrath. Come then in faith and trust the Lord for all
things.

Lord, it is a struggle, for there are those who have grieved me. Yet
Lord, I know there are those whom I have grieved. Bring me beyond the sinful
inclinations of immaturity to realize that all things must be in Your hands. You
alone are able to deal with the wicked. You alone know those who are Yours now
and the journey they must go through to finally be Yours.

Lord Jesus, ultimately all sin is
against You and on You have all sins been placed. Bring me to You that through
You I would know true grace and offer that grace to others. Lead me in the way
of everlasting life that I may abide in You and You in me knowing that in and
by Your grace alone will I find salvation. Lead me this day, O Lord, especially
through any trials that may come, to trust in You alone. Amen.
